if you have been following my past threads you would have known my quad wouldnt run was leaking oil fixed that with a new base gasket and high temp silicone solved that problem airleak fouled plugs and quad would not run idle fine and low end fine no mid or high range. i checked everything but what it cam down to was the filter i was running quad will run with UNI but doesnt run with the K&N weird but whatever works

what i found was when i washed the K&N with water and let it dry for 2 days then oiled it and let that dry for 2 more days it was still wet the kn oil would puddle in the bottom of air box this not only happened to me but my neighbor we both run the same setup too for now i will run UNI but i feel this happened due to the temp change in my area

but now since i need the uni my friend had to use the K&N and his quad runs fine with it now but 2 monthes ago it wouldnt run with it some weird stuff is there a special trick to the K&N drying because ours wont

A K&N filter has to be 100% dry for it to retain oil, but I have never had a problem with one not holding oil after a cleaning. When I wash the K&N filter on my truck, I shake it dry as best as possible, and then allow it to air-dry it overnight. By the next morning, it is usually ready for oil and re-installation.

However, you have to use the spray-on filter red cotton filter oil for it to lube properly. Using motor oil or the super-sticky foam air filter oil (meant for UNI filters) will clog a K&N filter and prevent the engine from being able to breathe.

Yeah , junk the K&N , it's not a dirt machine filter at all ,
Buy a UNI and you are set , best protection you can have for your Yamaha!!!
