new castle pa
i have a friend in machine shop. i asked him and he said he is up for the job of making a head and cylinder completely from scratch. what do you guys think? he is also making me hubs and spindles

I say heck no. Unless he wants a piston to explode into his crotch. Sounds kind of like a safety hazard to me....

Have him make spacers or custom fit say a banshee or YFZ swingarm to fit a blaster. Or maybe even make some a-arms.

Yea i agree with Big Boy not to good of a idea there are many other mods he can do but with that your talking a potentially harmful mod stuff like that even people with 35 years experience wouldn't attempt but yea you could definitely have him do some other mods im looking for someone to do a extended swingarm

Maybe have it make some rear brake adapters to take different kinds of rear hydraulic brakes? I dunno if the head or cylinder is a good idea....

Do It! If he has the machine and knowledge do it! And it will be relatively cheep- Tell him it has to be Billet and accept a la sleeve kit. These others guys are just jealous cause you have a hook up! It would be a one of a kind thing and i bet would look sweet! Then when it works hell have a sh*t load of business!

I want to see some finished work from this guy. I also work in a very high tech machine shop and i know we couldnt pull that off without buying special tooling which makes it to expensive. I hope you get it done because i want to see it.

thats the exact reason these, and all others, are a cast cylinder,
the tooling needed to cnc the transfers would be ridiculous, if at all even possible

well ill start him off with a head which i have and when he is done with it pics will be posted and then i will buy a cylinder for him to try and re-create. i will not have to pay for anything anyway

Its very much possible with a very smart programmer with a 5 axis high speed mill which costs about 1 mill give or take a 100 grand. Makeing spindles is a cake walk but the tooling, engineering and machine cost makes it unreachable for your average JOE, no pun intended, lol.

We have a 5 axis high speed mill made by micron and i am pretty sure it was real close to a million bucks. It would take tons of engineering research and develpopment as well as a huge budget to pull it off on top of thousands of dollars for special application tooling costs.

One off top ends and engine assemblies that are milled are for the rich and famous. I would love to be proven wrong and see a teenager with a 1 off milled top end. Good luck with that.

i cry pun intended !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
