jetting question

yes, you do................

:o This fella doesn't get it....someone just send him prices for a piston, rings, boring of top end, shipping costs and timing. Maybe it will makes sense to him then on what corners to cut. Don't mean to be a douche, but he's asked the same freaking question(s) 2-3 times. Yes, we like the extra posts ourselves, but you're wasting out time.

its cool, if i confused you, my bad! ANY kind of jetting change, you MUST do a plug chop to make sure youre not running lean. its the Most important thing with 2 strokes (along with leakdown testing) dont sweat the multiple questions, better to ask twice or three times then get it wrong and Blow Up!!! good luck man.....

Plug chop:

Start with old plug, get motor in operating temp 10 minute ride. Find a nice long stretch you can get in 5-6th gear WOT (pinned)

Put new plug in.

Grip and rip in 6th WOT (Wide Open Throttle) for approx 15 seconds

While holding the throttle wide open, pull the clutch, at the same time turn the run switch off and coast to a stop.

Pull plug cut approx 1/4" of threads of being careful not to cut the porcelin center.

Should be a light cardboard brown ring!

So simple fit a #270 main jet and proceed as above!

What carb are you running? Mikuni, Keihine, OKO? If you're running a Mikuni, please tell us you meant 230 main jet? Do you remember what pilot jet you have?

right, but thats still lean for the exhaust change! at LEAST go up 2 sizes to a 260. then plug chop,

Go big (for safety) or go home (broken)...start a little higher, jets are cheap $3.30 off psep.biz. Stay safe and keep it running. Do you know your pilot jet size?
