jelly in gas

Yes its airplane fuel. Around 110 octane. My buddies dad use to paint planes at an airport. He still has bout 50 gallons that we use once in a while. If it gets really cold it will get thicker an harder to burn. It is very stable fuel tho at high heat. U can boil it an watch it bubble. An over time it does turn bad an lose its octane rating. Hopefully that helps out.

i've heard of gas turning to jelly, when the guys "ol lady" put pectin in his tank to keep him from going riding, so he would take her shopping instead!!!!
the "mrs" doesnt make grape jelly does she?????

nope no grape jelly around here..lol
but my gas turns to jelly pretty damn consistantly..

damn thats sucks, a couple days, i think i would try a different pre-mix oil, and quite possibly it has water in it from the tanks, maybe try a dri gas, which i believe is just isopropal alcohol, it mixes with the water and then allows it to evaporate???

Mechanics and manufacturers say that while a 10% ethanol blend causes few problems in a car's closed fuel system, it can be a big problem in boats, whose gas tanks are ventilated. Ethanol absorbs water from the air, which can cause a motor to lose power or stall. A solvent, ethanol also picks up contaminants from storage containers. And when mixed with non-ethanol gasoline already in a tank, the blend can form a gelatinous glob that clogs fuel filters.

vented just like our atv tanks...

Maybe try putting a small amount in a baby food jar or something similar and poke a few small holes in the lid to simulate the conditions in the fuel bowl. Then pour a bit of your pre-mix in and wait. If it gels up then work on your premix. It could be the av fuel just don't like your klotz (kind of doubt it though) or it could just be a bad batch of fuel. maybe the fuel has water in it or something. If its not gelling in the test jar then I'd say flush the fuel tank, hose, bowl, and let it all dry out then fill it up with a fresh tank and see what happens. Good luck

no he has always ran av gas with the same oil... its the ethanol causing problems... thats why when ever i have fuel in a can i toss a oz or 2 of carb/ injector cleaner in the can, helps keep everything 'clean'
