Quad is hard to put in gear with clutch in. The bike even moves and make noise when put into 1st. I've adjusted it quite a bit already. I'm thinking possibly clutch. Please help fellas.

What is the issue with oil leak? Even cheap ATF @ $3 a quart would quickly pay for a seal. Worse case would be the leak suddenly gets way worse and you are long way from home/truck. JMHO.

Okay I'm very new at this but it appears to be coming from the bottom of the case. It's my understanding that I will have to split the case and replace the gasket.

there is no gasket, just case bond...it def not the easiest job :) but the only way around it....Its going to cook your engine.

I am somewhat concerned, is the oil disappearing or can you physically see it leaking from the case.

If it leaks from the gasket $3 and a few minutes will fix it.

If oil leaks from the crankcase then you have a major problem and need to fix that pronto.

If it just disappears then you could have crankcase seal issues and they too need to be addressed.

I can physically see it leaking from the case. so looks like im going to spend some money. its tranny oil so it must be case right ?

If it is tranny oil it would be leaking around the gear case, which is different to the crank case.

The gear case is an easy $3 fix.

Do the taste test, take a little of engine oil, ( the one you put in the tank ) and put a little on the tip of your tongue and compare to tranny oil.

If the crankcase is leaking then the fix is not so simple, the cases will have to be split and re bonded.

Sometimes a little oil escapes from where the trans breather is and dribbles down the cases.

Sometimes the shift shaft will also weep and cause oil loss.

The output shaft which the sprocket sits on can also weep and run to the bottom.

How much do you actually loose?

Make sure it is tranny oil and not engine oil before you pick up a wrench.

So it's pretty late here in Cali , but I'm almost certain it's gear oil that I'm losing. I've been adding quite a bit of gearsaver lately. So a $3 gasket sounds good. It gets low in the window and I add some to it. Ignorance is bliss.

That little window tells lies, drain out what you have and refill with 650 ml, go for a ride and drain and measure it.

Is there a puddle of oil under the bike in the morning, if not you could have a leaking oil seal which must be Replaced before you blow the piston.

It is a matter of replacing what is making it leak.

There are 4 places that it will leak, the gasket ( the most common) the kicker, the shift shaft and the main output shaft.

Pressure clean the engine and take for a short run,you will then be able to see where the oil is coming from.

Bear in mind that if it is overfilled it will be coming out of the breather due to heat expansion.

Good luck.

Ok thanks. I have looked at the manual and it doesn't look to hard. I was really dreading having to split the case. So I'm very happy under the circumstances. I do appreciate the help.
