Hey guys, I just watched the 5 part O'Connor DIY porting videos. In the videos he doesn't touch the intake port. Or did I miss something? Im going to have my engine ported by a friend who will watch the videos. (He is a very good mechanic.) Just wondering if there is anything he should do to the intake port? Thanks Guys!!

He doesn't do anything to the intake port because that's the side with the biggest risk of cylinder damage if anything is overdone. The ring ends are on each side of the boost port and come to just above the top of the intake windows. There isn't much to be gained in there anyway.

I've done both; clean up the intake port casting without modifying anything and modify the intake port.

I did EXACLTY what Ken shows in his video the first cylinder I did, cleaned up the flaws the second one, and then (after measuring about 20 times) modified the intake itself.

There is a lot more danger dabbling in the intake windows than it looks...

You could mess with the middle of the intake port. Throw yourself a knife edge design on it hahaha.

but you could take some material off of the middle bridge.

I also want to replace my stock carb. I have been looking at the OKO Flat slides, mostly because of pricing. I would buy a Keihin PWK if I could get one for a good price. I will be doing the O'Connor DIY porting, and have my head milled. I am running an FMF pipe. Would the PWK 28mm or similar carb be a decent choice? Just looking for some input here? Thanks again guys!
