ok theres a couple intake modifications im not sure are signifigant in any REAL gain or benifit..

1 boost bottle - give me reasons why it works and why it doesnt and how its supposed to work

2 reed spacer - give me reasons why it works and why it doesnt and how its supposed to work

3 power now or power now plus valves- give me reasons why it works and why it doesnt and how its supposed to work

use real scientific data to prove or disprove all 3 of these "performance enhancers"...

please explain how each one works and state why it works or doesnt work

thanks lets get some results i think this thread will clerify whats real and whats not real for most riders!

I run a v-force 3 reed system with no reed spacer. This is what Paul from project blaster (pittboss) told me to run. I would direct this question to the ask a pro section.

yeah i don't knowa bout the bottle and spacer i think they are a waste of money personally but thats just me i would get a good reed setup like mpblaster said he had or one simular v force are really good reeds i think they are worth the money you spend on them but you have to spend money for power!!!!!

i think reed spacers are supposed to cool down the air by the extra space it takes to get there. cooler air = more power, now if it actually cools it enough i dont know but i think thats what it is supposed to do

a reed spacer is "supposed" to give the air/fuel mixture a little more time to mix so it burns more efficiently and thoroughtly. whether it actually works or not is debatable

The reed spacer is similar to a hi-rise intake on a car. It increases the straight line distance the air travels through, thus increasing its velocity. Increased velocity means higher volume of air/fuel mixture in the cylinder, raising the volumetric efficiency of the engine, in effect, creating more power.

The difference is a car is a 4 stroke and a Blaster motor is a 2 stroke.
The spacer is sometimes needed to allow the carb to clear the clutch linkage or if the reeds are long enough to intefere with the ports. Otherwise it increases crankcase volume which doesn't always help performance. A reed stuffer or some reed cage designs increase velocity which is usually a good thing.

all those things sound about right to me. i'd say that w/ a 2 stroke engine, velocity isn't too much of an issue (esp the nominal amount of velocity that the spacer will provide) because the engine will create vacuum every other stroke. this will keep the air in the carb from getting too dormant. esp cuz these things like to be in the high revs.
that power now thing looks pretty cool to me. i've seen it before and thought about putting a couple in my street bike, but again, for a 2 stroke seems a little like overkill. though, if you've got an extreme port and maybe even a bore, then the power now might have a more noticeable affect.
like everyone else says, the reed cage will have more advantage than the other things you listed.

i love how everyones voting for reed spacer, but no one has truely explained how much they help, where they help(bottom, mid, top end) or disadvantages.

any of this would be great. and if its worth it, could someone give me some measurements of it, that would be a good metal shop school project lol.

on a cnc mill a reed spacer shouldn't be hard to make.. when school starts back up ill give it a whirl...

and from hours of reading on how to spend my money on my blaster i would get the reed 3 setup

Don't waste the bones on a spacer. I would just do reeds. The spacer adds more crankcase volume, and takes signal away from the carb which is not a good thing. In theory it should make a little more bottom end because of the extra volume, but it isn't noticeable. I don't think any of the things you have listed are worth buying. I would just save up for reeds.

i still think in my opinion that VF3's are the best bet. i also got a 1/2" reed spacer but i put it on with the reeds when i got them so idk if just the spacer matters. if not its only 20 bucks on ebay.
