I want to know.

How many of you have had your oil injector fail, or know someone who has?

I do not personally know of any that have failed. I took mine out of one of my 2001's last month and it looked brand new. I had a DT175 from the early 70's and when I got rid of it in the mid-90's the injection was still working. I can understand getting rid of it to eliminate the possibility of it failing. It is a mechanical device. However, I am no hurry to remove it from my stock Blaster and I do recommend removing it from modified Blasters (more than a pipe and airfilter).

my first blaster when my stepdad had it failed. He was racing his nephew and he was in top of 4th gear and the whole engine locked up.

Seized the piston in the bore turned the needle bearings in the wrist pin flat. and wiped out the crank, it was really bad, had to do a whole rebuild.

:o
And thats why I removed mine a long time ago...

I don't think I will remove my oil injector as it is way too convenient and I've only heard of one that failed and thats from a post in this thread.

they will eventually fail, and you will have no idea before it goes, your better off just doing it its added insurance and a lot cheaper then a total rebuild

I've often wondered this myself. I removed mine due to all the things I've read here about it being the thing to do. I've had several snow machines and boats and never had an oil injection failure. What I've seen ruin a two stroke more than once is someone accidentally pouring from the wrong gas can and dumping in straight gas instead of pre mix so to me that seems more likely than a failure.

i took mine off. imo you have to be freekin retarded to pour from the wrong gas can. i hve sled with it stil lon but there is a big difference, they have metal drive gears on the pump where the blasty has a sh*tty plastic one. so if you guys want to trust your whole engine to a tiny plastic gear, go ahead.

it happend 2 times to me...my blasty was about a year old..bought brand new. removed oil injector new bore and new piston and it has ran strong for 2 years no problem...oil injection isnt garenTEED to mix a constant 32:1 and on a high performance engoine it will not meet the demands..
