How's this valve cover coming??

when i got it from a friend to practice on

after sanding and one coat of polish...kinda wish i would of went to a lower grit sandpaper b4 polishing.

let me know what you guys think and pointers on how to make it better. thanks
 
scott keep in mind not all aluminum comes out as nice as clutch covers some stuff thats cast will be very porous and look like crap no matter what u do it all depends on teh qaulity of the aluminum used
 
i seen polishing and just asumed scot lol what did u use when u polished it??? and what kind of wheel

lol well i find scotts polishing is really gd so if my polishing made you think it was him then i am very happy with myself lol i use a drill with polish wheels on it. i dont have alot of tools to do this.
 
doing it by hand?

go to harbor freight, grab a big bench grinder and a few polishing wheels, some black, brown and white compounds and do it the easy way with professional results.
HEAT along with the cutting compound is what gives you a smooth flawless finish.
 
here is the finished product for this time. next time i will take your guys tips and try them out and see how it turns out.

valve covers are a good idea, i am thinking of throwing some adds on kijiji and such this summer to try and make some money, just cant get the crazy sh*t like entire engines that 442 does lol
