I just got a brand new Renthal R4 Z-Ring ATV chain with two brand new TAG sprockets. The chain didn't come with any break in instructions. All it says is to use SAE 80-90 oil for lubrication and to avoid use of spray lubricants do to containing solvents. The chain was shipped in a sealed bag that was covered in white powder. I have herd before that this is a special break in lubricant. How long should I run this white powder before I should clean it off and re-lubricate it. Also should I be easy on the chain while its stretching for the first time. (I like drag racing my friends and doing 2nd gear launches). And should I really stay away from using spray lubricants like they say? I've always used chain wax because its easy to keep that nice gold chain clean.

what ??? chain break-in ?

no such thing, keep it adjusted properly, and lubed, i like to use whats left in the quart from oil changes

expect to go thru 2 chains each season, if you "really ride"
chains are 3rd on the list, behind fuel and oil, as expendables here

did this chain come from Columbia? if it did, ill give you 5k for just the bag it came in!!! lol

ive never heard of a 'break in' process with chains/sprockets either. mine came from did covered in chain wax. after every ride or 2, i give it a wipe down, spray a little fresh wax back on and im good.

never hurd of this, only break in procedure i know of is adjust chain tension properly then start up bike, hop on and run at WOT through every gear every where :)

who knows, ive never heard of that before, powder on a chain? graphite maybe???

You wanna see...or hear...graphite really lubricate something, dump a tablespoon full in someone's coffee or soda. What ever they've eaten will come out scattered and splattered. I:I

Chains need to be checked fequently when there new. They will stretch after some time on it.Just keep an eye out and check the tension often for the first few weeks/ride.You can ride however you want, just bring a 10,14,17mm wrench with you.I:I
