how hard is it to change carrier berrings?

I just noticed I have about 1-2mm of play from side to side on my axle do I need new berrings or can I maybe tighten the axle nuts ( dont think there loose but havent checked them) If I need to change the berrings how hard is it, and are there aftermarket ones that are better than stock?

i just replaced my bearings, i dont think there is a huge difference between stock and aftermarket, i think the stock ones work fine, but you have to take your tires off the rear, take the hubs off, remove the axle nuts, remove the 2 bolts that connect the carrier to the swing arm pound out the axle, hammer out the old bearings, install new ones and put it alll back together, the hardest part is just knocking the axle out, and dont forget to take your sprocket and hub off

are u sure the top bolt in the carrier isnt mangled
i thought my bearing were bad but the top bolt n mount were all worned so i modded the carier

yeah it got to be the berrings I can see the axle move in the carrier

hey also when i bought my bearings it said to freeze the bearings for an hour and heat the carrier with like a space heater cause it said that a torch gets it to hot but this worked great for me hope this helps ya

thats how i changed all the berrings in my case halves, freezer and a heat gun. any tips for getting them out? I do have access to a 10 ton press if need be.

all i did was heated the carrier up and tap on bearings lightly along the outer part of the bearing all the way around just so 1 side dont come out farther then the other side it worked great for me

yah you get directions that say put them in the freezer, the bearings contracts but when you use the heat gun the metal expands, jjust use a big screwdriver and pound out the old ones, then just take a 2x4 and put that over the bearings and hit it with a rubber mallet
