Hey All,

I'm trying to get my clutch cover off and I just can't seem to get the big nut off that holds the Kick-starter to it's shaft. Anybody got any tricks to break it free? :-/

Thanks

they are on there vey tight with loctite, which is how your gonna put it back on if ya dont wanna lose it
i usually have someone stand on it in the down position and get a breaker bar or long cheater bar on a ratchet and give it hell, it is lefty loosey standard threaded

i usually just do it this way.....
leave the kicker lever in the rest position, then get on the nut with your wrench or long ratchet, slowly turn it counterclockwise til it comes into contact with the frame in a good spot then use some balls and loosen the nut. if its not seating against the frame good just move it a little till it does. good luck

just have a buddy hold the engine still and get a long bar and take a hammer and hit it to knock the bolt loose.

or chock it up with some wooden blocks and give it the beans with a decent ratchet, even a torque wrench works. But its best in the bike or with many hands holding down for you

:o FYI you should NEVER use a torque wrench to loosen nuts/bolts. Thats how you mess them up, they're strictly made for tightening.

no, what messes them up is when you do it yourself and apply pressure at an angle causing the socket to slip off burring the hex. if you have extra hands to make sure your socket is square on the nut and held on firmly, you can use a ten foot pole to loosen nuts, its not like you are going to over loosen it and stip the thread...
