I have a 1998 honda cr 125 that had the powervalves hitting the piston so it ruined the piston so i got it honed and im gettin new piston and rings and the pvs are shaved now but my concern is the arm coming out of the case. It felt like it had no resistance so i took it apart and the governor was there and the teeth are good. Does anyone have any experience with these cr 125s or can someone get me a detailed picture of the whole setup. I already checked out micro fitch and it didnt help much PLEASE HELP

If the valves are hitting the piston, on a stock bore cylinder, the guides, valves or both are worn out. Also check the retaining clips on the end of the valve for wear. The valves contacting the piston with the HPP system was a common problem in the early 90's. Honda changed the set up in 1998 to combat the problem. The early valves and guides will fit in the newer cylinder. Someone may have swapped them out. Has the cylinder been ported? If the exhaust was ground too wide, the valves will make contact with the piston. The system also needs to be timed to work properly. Once you have the cylinder on the engine, connect the rod that comes out of the clutch cover to the actuating shaft. Push both valves closed and tighten the two screws on the holders (part #14). As the linkage moves down, the valves will open.

The powervalves and cylinder are stock bore. I took them to the dirt bike shop and they told me i just have to shave them then readjust
