if i were to get some alum welded up as a rear skidplat for the swing arm could i just drill 4 holes thru the swing arm and tap em and bolt it up or would that mess up the strenght of the swingarm? how bout the front a arms?

i think it would weeken the swingarm but im no expert at this but im pretty sure drillin holes in the swinggy would make it even weeker

if you could make tabs to drill it into the side you would be stronger then driling the bottom, if you do that make sure you do the side and perfectly in the middle, so 1" up from the bottom

Why wouldn't you just get the skidplate welded in such a way that it uses the stock mounts? I don't think i'd be worried that drilling and tapping reasonably sized holes in that heavy steel swingarm would weaken it, but that just doesn't sound like a good way to mount a skid plate at all. I really don't know how you'd do it that way while still keeping it solid.

I definitely wouldn't do that for your a-arms though, that's thin tube steel, holes will signifigantly weaken it. There are better ways to mount a plate anyways. Just use a couple bolts and some backing plates on the other side like the aftermarket companies do.

the only thing you have to worry about is to much heat drilling or welding to much heat will weakin it that should be the only thing

In all reallity 4) 1/4-20 holes shouldn't harm the integrity of your swing arm. I don't think it would be necessary to go bigger than 1/4-20.

i would weld the tabs with backing plates on the skids for the a- arms like someone eles said! and why not make it to fit factory bolt holes? use cardboard and make a demo to go by, and you can use a road sign for the main skid plate!! just make sure you paint it before you put it on!!!

well it sounds to me like your taring sh*t up for fun, but if you want to spend a bunch of money because of stupidiness than go ahead, and i meant use a road sign for the motor skid, not the swing arm or A-arms!!!! ( i have one on the hold 250X and it works great!!!!)

lol, darrell, thats how we do it in ohio!

thats right...just paint it so you dont get caught with it!!!my brothers stupid ass took a bunch of road signs one time and he stuck them under the bedliner in his truck and forgot about em, but like 6 months later he got a DUI and they searched his truck and found em!!!it was a pretty nasty fine:-D

haha lmao, i hit a stopsign infront of a country dance bar with my truck ad i got out an took in, wooden post and all, there were like 10 people infront of the bar and they were all laughing untill we got out and stole the sign, seeing the looks on their faces was priceless.

BUSTEDDD!!!!=))

drilling a couple little holes in the swing arm won't hurt anything, there is a lot of structural integrity left, although i wouldn't suggest drilling holes in the a-arms, with the way you seem to ride and having holes in the tubes you could end up bending your a-arm

oh!!
as for the front cut up a road sign get ur grinder and cut 2 slits about the width of one a arm, then put an airsol clamp throught the slits and around the a arim
then do the same for the other side of the a arm and the whole other a arm because a arms are shaped like < on the drivers left side and > on the drivers right side and both parts of the > need to be clamped on by airsol clamps.

cut one fit it under do some measuring for front and back of where ur gunna clamp the a arm
then if it works cut up the other one to be identicle

awsooooome thats what im gunna do soon
il make a DIY

id say for the body skid plate ud have to apply the same concept as the a arm skidplates

2 slits both sides 2 airsol clamps one through each set of slits and make as many as you can until you reach the end of the blaster
