hey fellas.. 250R TROUBLES PLEASE HELP!!

Hey fellas.. anyone with a clue please chime in..

Took the 87 250r out for a ride last week.. RODE FLAWLESSLY.

noticed it was low on gas so i added fresh fuel THEN POURED THE OIL DIRECTLY INTO THE TANK.. i didnt mix it before i put it in.. i know bad mistake. anyway...

took it out for a ride today and it ran horrible.. then i noticed something..

1) when it runs correctly it ALWAYS SMOKES ALOT DURING WARM UP..then just a little like any blasty... this time it didnt at all.. no smoke what so ever..


Noticed rad fluid draining off like the carb would if it was flooded ( through a toob that drops down the bottom of the quad )

rad fluid in resi was boiling and gurgling.

it ran terrible.. BUT WOULD IDLE FINE..REV'D TERRIBLE AND BOGGED ALOT..but would move.. once i saw the fluid hitting the ground.. i felt the resi and it was crazy hot.. so i shut it off and towed it to the truck.. it still will run but im starting to think its a head gasket??

ideas on diagnosis would be highly appreciated!!!

sounds like head gasket to me. but never mix your oil and gas in your tank. your right that was a BAD IDEA

sounds like your overheating.

probably from running lean do to lack of oil. Did this happen as soon as you started riding on the fresh tank or a couple minutes after?

You're overheating. Check the water pump impeller, radiator cap, coolant level, water pump seals and head gasket. Give me a call if you have questions.

sounds like it running hot.. if im in a pinch and need to fuel up without a can i put the oil in first so the agitation of dumping the gas in helps mix it then shake the sh*t out of theaching lol. done it multiple times and it works fine I:I

im going to check to oil for water and check the coolant for oil..

i figure if it is a blown H/G then i will see one or another..

it had no real reason to over heat though.. thats what troubles me.

would like to find a cool head for it but i wouldnt want to port it.. im wanting some port work done on my stock head.

shouldnt have been lean.. i mix 32:1 with klotz r-50. and foul plugs from being too rich most times.. i mixed this just above 40;1 because when i poured the fresh gas in i know i added a little more oil then needed when i made the stupid mistake of just dumping oil in the tank.. their was a decent amount of gas in it when i did.. i was just topping it off. the fact that it didnt smoke at all scares me.. IT ALWAYS SMOKES WHEN YOU 1ST FIRE IT UP..and it always starts 1st or 2nd kick.. no matter weather conditions... i could start it in the artic circle in 1 or 2 kicks..

my foot is sore from all the kicking i did.. i just said f*** it tow me..

i did make the gas mistake.. but i was smart enough not to ride it back.. had a friend tow me through some rough country back to the truck. hope it saved the engine.. i just sold my lt250 for 300 because the case cracked in 4 places and was toast.
