im having problems with my blaster. i got the topend rebuilt about 4 months ago. now it takes several kicks to start. about 8+ kicks. it bugs the sh*t outta me. but after its started and i warm it up and cut it off. it starts on the first kick
can i get some help? any ideas on how to fix this?

i have a toomey b1 pipe with pro circuit silencer. vitos air filter, open airbox with outerwears. boyesen reeds. weisco piston. i premix my oil. and im running all of this with a 230 main jet

oh and another thing. when i ride for a pretty long time and it starts to heat up. it starts to idle high

Your running all those mods with the stock main jet? Your jet is too lean, it should be bigger then a 230

that main is to small and your more then likely running lean..
you may have low compression and its easier to start when its warm cause the rings expand some when they are hot..

toomey recomends a 310 with there kit and the way you have it set up i would run atleast that i run a 340 with my mods

The guys are right about the main (and it's important you change it) but more to the point, you prob need a larger PILOT jet. You should bump it a couple sizes just on general principle. The main jet really doesn't do much at idle/starting.

The "choke" is actually another fuel circuit to richen things up for starting. (these carbs don't really have chokes) So, if it starts ok when warm, you need more fuel for starting. Both the "choke" and the idle circuits have very small orifices and passages that are easily blocked. Make sure you can spray carb cleaner through BOTH of them (from the float bowl side) and have it come out in the carb throat. Might as well do the main too. Oh, and i'm having trouble picturing a mikuni, but on a keihin the choke circuit pickup is just a tube without a jet.

I bet Gonzo's left nut this fixes it.

I wish I could give you a good answer to that one, because every situation is different. Plus, I've never messed with the stock carb, I replaced it and never looked back, lol.

But here it goes. It looks like the stock one is 32.5 and they go up in increments of 2.5.

Vitos sells a 35 and 40, other places might have the in betweens.

CARB JET KIT FOR OEM CARBS...

I would first make sure all those passages are clear (this is crucial), but then I would throw in the 40 because it's easier to work down (and sounds good, lol). After it's warmed up, putt around at light throttle (0 - 1/4) for a bit and then turn it off. Check your plug and make sure it didn't foul. As long as you still have nice throttle response (no bog) I would say it is good. If it bogs, step down smaller. You can always go bigger if you don't experience a problem.

Good luck.

good info man! u deserve some rep I:I

ya i have the same problem. i choke, and it takes 5-8 kicks to start, then once its warm, it fires one kick, i havent compression tested it, but i suspect it needs a top end. i have to pump the throttle WOT every two kicks just so it starts. could that be jetting? im gonna get a new carb and im rebuilding anyways... just wondering.

you just have low comp. you need to use a bigger main jet dude, way to lean. thats probably why it only lasted 4 months on that rebuild.

when i do the rebuild do i need to replace all the gaskets too? or can i just reuse?
because the whole kit from weisco has gaskets. and the weisco from rockymountainatv's weisco only has the piston, rings, wristpin, and circlips.
which is better?
