okay so im getting a 09 corvette grandsport from a friend thats a dealer...but the guy has a lean on it and we have to wait to get the title by either paying the guy 1000$ or taking him to court or hopefully getting it approved by motorvehicles so we can right up a title... my question is do u think mototrvehicles will approve to re-write a title or would they say its a civil matter and needs to be handled in court?:-/

i'd say it's a civil matter and needs handled thru the courts.
buy it without clearing that up and risk losing it.

if you have the $ to buy a vette, whats another $1000 to clear the title ?

well the thing is i dont want to spend another 1000$ if i can just get it another way, i know i can get the tittle by going to court but im trying to bypass that process because it will take longer. My dealer friend has a friend inside motervehicles so maybe it can get approved but most likely i have to go through courts huh? freaking hate scummy people like that wanted to charge an extra 1000$ for the title.....

the lean was obviously placed on there for a reason ?
by someone the original owner owed money too ?
or did the previous owner place the lean himself ?

how did it even sale or trade in with a lean on it ?
the lean should have been cleared before the title ever changed hands

My insurance agent bought a repoed leased vette over 6 months ago cash, but the title is still in the old lease owners name who has yet to sign off on the title. The vette sure looks nice parked in his garage. He cant park it in his driveway as per NYS law if you do not have plates, regy, and insurence you can not have the vehicle in veiwable site.

Be be carefull and make sure you know your states laws.

yes the bank put a lean on it also and the dealer he bought it from has a lean on it too, we got the dealer to take his lean off via we bought the car in cash and the bank has to let go of the lean for the owner who we bought the car from in order for the owner to give us the title without going through court. But me and my dealer friend are trying to take it to motor vehicles and get it stamped so we can just create our own title for the car(bypassing the 1000$ fee the guy wants and also taking him out of the equation) but if that dosent work then i have to wait another month til the court case is done and over with... im just trying to see if motor vehicles can stamp off on it, cuz if that is true then we wouldnt need to go through the courts and also i wouldnt have to wait a month ;x

were tlaking about a dealership they get dibs on cars that havent been fully processed we thought that by the time we got the car the title would be ready but the guy is being an ahole and wanted a 1000 fee. So basically he wants us to give him 1k for something he rightfully dosent own anymore he owes the bank a couple grand so hes just trying to get some money to get them off his back. But i dont want to give him a cent and im not going to id rather take him to court.:)

I can see you, your "dealer" friend, and the "friend of a friend @ DMV" getting into a whole bucket of $hit trying to circumvent the lein.

JMHO, your results may, and will vary !!
