Hello everyone! I just got a blaster that was running. 1st time I rode it long my piston ring broke. I did not know at first what it was. I took off the head and cylinder. I will post photos of everything. I need some advice! I believe my cylinder was already bored over when I got it. Please look at the photos and tell me what I should do. I wonder if I can hon the inside. I’m not sure if it’s at max. I believe it is. Cylinder is not scratched up bad. Piston is junk.

From what i can see of your measurements
It looks like 66mm Correct? If so That is the stock bore size. Cylinder can be bored to 68mm.

Wow! Lol you are correct, I didn’t even realize. Bore then new piston. Should I do anything else?

Have the machine measure and they can order the piston for you .or you can order your own.
Dont forget gaskets and quality piston.Make sure the ports get chamfered!!! After they bore it. If not it can snag a ring quickly. And break it. Can you post pics of the spark plug by chance?. Curious on the color.what carb and exhaust are you running?

Was trying to see the color on plug. Couldn't really make it out. Is there any numbers on that carb.it looks alittle off to me than the oem one? What are the jet numbers on the main and pilot jets?

The head looks ok in the picture. But can't hurt. Nice looking blaster though

If I bore to 68 will I need new jets?
If it's at 66mm just go one size.66.5. You don't want to max bore your cylinder. Or you will be buying a new one. And there will be no significant gain in doing so. Pop bowl off carb. Numbers will be stamped on jets. Jetting could be incorrect.
Do i think it's worth restoring. Yes. It's seems to be in decent shape from what i can see. Get it running and enjoy it

Hey there Sly! Thanks for replying !! I brought my cylinder in at a shop my friend recommended that bores. He has a small engines shop where he rebuilds, here in Maine! Local! It will be done by Wednesday! He ordered me top end gaskets wesico piston piston bearing and he’s boring. I want the 400 ex shock if anyone has a link for something that is for sale. Also in the market for a header I already have a muffler. Thanks for the help. Hopefully she will be up and running soon. Does the carb have a gasket if I open it up and look at the jets?

The 400ex shock can be found on egay.
It will require top bushings . ken oconner racing makes them. There cheap . and drill bottom hole in shock to. 12mm to accept
Stock bottom bolt which you reuse. Ask if they chamfered the ports.( take sharp edges off so rings dont catch)

He kinda laughed when I asked him. He said of course. He builds race engines for banshees. He said he hasn’t seen a stick bore in a blaster in a long time!! And did you really mean “egay” hahaha

Also if I open the carb does it have gaskets that I will need to replace ?

Also my buddy said that it could of been something from the bottom end that slid up. If you look at my first few pics what do you think is on the top of my piston?

The bowl gaskets ussualy can be reused. Just be carful taking bowl off. The pieces stuck in piston look like parts of the ring. Was there a piece of ring missing on piston?. Size wize it matches the ring. But thoroughly check bottom end bearings, rod play. And if any debris is in crank area. It's important that nothing is floating around down there.
Your buddy is right you can get debris from the bottom. Parts of bearing cages ect.

Can I check any of that without splitting the case?? So far I just have top end off. I didn’t even take it out.
