i took off my header/pipe to repaint it, whn i picked it up i hear something rattling inside of it. sounds like its too big to go thru header end or exhaust end. PLEASE HELP. I PURCHASED IT FOR MY 12 YR OLD AS A PROJECT AND CHRISTMAS PRESENT. HELP:-/

Is this a stock head pipe? If so, one of the factory baffles may have broken loose inside of it and it'll rattle around.

If this is the case, there's really no good fix and you'll be better off buying a new exhaust head pipe. The good news is that I'm sure somebody here has a good used stocker that they'd be glad to sell you cheaply.

You might want to consider installing an aftermarket exhaust in place of the stocker. Its a nice performance upgrade...

i just bought it and it came a DG aftermarket exhaust. thanks for the insite. another question. The guy says its been bored making it 240. I notice he didnt do anything to the carb and its bogging down in 1st and 2nd gear like its not getting enuff gas. whats my next step. rebuild carb or dyno jet? if so what stage.

Chances are the engine just needs a carburetor rebuild kit. I'd take it apart and clean it thoroughly. You don't need a DynoJet kit; they are a waste of money IMO. Be sure the air filter is clean, too, and then get yourself a 260 main jet for the carburetor from Mikuni. (the local dealer should have some in stock). This may fix your bogging problem. That 260 main will be about right for the DG pipe if all else is stock.

If this Blaster has a DG pipe, there's nothing inside of it to rattle, so what you're hearing may just be normal 2-stroke noise.

Could you post a video of it running here and let us hear it? That will help with determining what's rattling.

i have the header off of the blaster, when i handle it i can hear something rattling inside of it. before i took it off and was riding it i cudnt hear anything. but i have the bike pulled apart right now. but as soon as i change the spark plug, trans oil, carb rebuild, airfilter, header, exhaust and put fresh liquor in it i will post a vid.

Hmm, I wonder if your head pipe is rusty inside and a chunk of rust broke loose and is rattling around in there? Thats all it could be unless something broke loose in the engine (piston skirt comes to mind) and got spit into the header. Either way, sounds like you have a plan. Put it back together, fix the carb, and go from there.

A DG and 240 bore on a stock carb setup would have put you pretty lean, do a compression test. While you have the header off take a look up the exhaust port for any ring , piston and bore damage.

If all is well arm yourself with a collection of jets #250 - #290, start with the #290 do plug chop and work from there.

DG,wow, they have a nice sounding silencer but that's about all I can say for it. It's not much over a stocker in my opinion. We tried 2 pipes on the same bike for testing purposes, a Toomey setup & a DG setup, wow no comparison, we've tested 3 different pipe setups so far & the Toomey is overall Badass! I'm betting if ya have a decent air filter & with that pipe a 280 main is gonna put ya close. Not sure why anyone would put a DG on a nice 240 kit???
