I found a pair of Hiper beadlock rims with 18 inch holeshot tires for $225. I think its a pretty good deal, but I'm worried about the lack of ground clearance on the trail. What do you guys think, and how much would you pay?
Thanks

its a good deal, but it depends on how bad the trails are where you're at. my 18's didn't slow me down too bad, and 20's wouldn't have helped in the ruts, they were really really deep

are those the tech 3 dual beadlocks or cf1's? if not u can always find a good set of tech 3's for about that price on yfzcentral.com, thats where i got mine.

i ride 18's on the all the trails around my house and rarely get hung up, if i get hung up with 18's 99% of the time i would get hung up with 20's

thanks for the help, the trails i ride are pretty much complete sand. Would a 14T front sprocket make enough difference with the smaller tires to get me a higher gear ratio than stock?

ok, I also found a full set (all 4) rear single beadlock, front non, for $300 shipped with tires with "50%" tread. that seems like a better deal to me..?

HiPer is now offering a new line of CF1 wheels which feature the same great performance as the standard CF1; the CF1A. As with all HiPer wheels the CF1A offers reliability in the toughest of conditions.

The CF1 has been a rider favorite since its introduction in 2007. It has become the choice of the Bomb Squad Freestyle Team, and proven itself on the front end of Bill Ballance’s factory Yamaha GNCC championship bike.

The CF1A are available now in 8, 9 and 10 inch rears and 10 inch front sizes, in both non beadlock and single beadlock versions.

sounds like it is just the new CF1.

ATV Riders Forum - Hiper CF1 vs. CF1A

I had CF1a's on my KFX700 before I traded it. They are stronger than aluminum but not the strongest wheel that Hiper makes. I would think that for anything other than a hardcore racer they would be fine. When I spoke to Hiper they informed me that CF1a's are a recreational level wheel.
Additionally, I spoke to a pro-level rider who said that he and his team had been using CF1's (not the a) for the last 2 seasons without any problems. CF1's are stronger than the CF1a's.
So, in my opinion, I would get the CF1 or CF1a's and spare the expense of the Tech 3's. However, if racing is what makes you money and you can't afford a failure I would get Tech 3's as they are the strongest wheel Hiper makes.

thanks, I've been looking around and saw that too. I was just thinking that they would be a lot better deal if they were the CF1's, since I can get 2 rear rims with tires for the price of one new rim. The whole strength thing doesn't really matter to me since I haven't even put a dent/scratch in my stock rims. My thought is that i might as well get the hiper rears with tires for $200-225 since it would be about $200 if i bought new rear aluminum rims and tires. and hipers would be much better than just regular old aluminum rims.

thought it was $300ish for 4 rims with tires?

option 1: One person has 4 with tires for $315 shipped, but will do $115 for just the fronts with tires. I probably wouldn't get those rears because they are 8x8.

option 2: locally a person has 2 9x8 rears with tires for $220 but I would offer $200 cash and see if that works. If that worked I would offer $100 for the fronts from option 1. and I would still have a full set with tires for $300.

8x8 is MX tire size. but good luck, hope you get them. new the rims are over $100 each.

Thanks. and I would like a 9 inch rim so it would be easier to put on a set of 20 inch tires in the future since I only ride trails.
