I have a 98 blaster, its completely stock (I plan on putting a toomey exhaust on it in the near future) any ways, whats a good clutch to put in it, Ive been looking at moose, tusk, Dp, Versa, Ebc, And barnett,
I was thinking on going with the barnett, or the Ebc, anyone have any advice?

if i were you i'd save some money and just get the tusk. there $40 from rockymountainatv or motosport. i cant remember which. but with only an exhaust, you dont need a high dollar performance clutch

I second the Tusk.

I just installed a Tusk HD kit into a Banshee, we used 3 of the HD springs and 3 of the stock springs, so its holding power is greater, but it isnt too stiff to be unusable.

The clutch kit is cheap, and it works really well. I just beat on that banshee trail riding at 10000 feet this weekend, I had to ride the clutch quite a bit to keep it in powerband at that altitude, and it took it without complaint. No burning smell, and it still works great.

Its the clutch Ill be putting into my blaster soon.

Cool, works for me, ill check out the tusk one, I just want a clutch that doesn't slip as bad as mine, the only thing I was concerned about was once I installed a cheapie clutch in a three wheeler I used to have, and it didn't work, the plates-brand new out of the box-were out of specification, and the clutch sucked, it slipped, I installed a better brand (it may have been ebc, I cant remember), and never had a issue, and before anyone argues with me, I installed both of them exactly the same, and yes, the first one was the correct one for it

Tusk should work fine. Just make sure you soak the plates in tranny fluid for a bit before install.

And use the correct tranny fluid. I just use the yamalube stuff personally. Its expensive but your quad doesnt take much fluid so it isnt that bad.

i now run yamalube oil in my trans too. what i did was soak the plates in it overnight in a zip lock bag full of the oil i was gonna use. Just please dont do what i did. actually order it from rockymountainatv.com. not ebay. if you get it on ebay, you can get it for a few dollars cheaper, since its the same price but you can get it with free shipping on ebay, but it took over a week for me to recieve it

I think I'm gonna get this one when the time comes.
YAMAHA BLASTER 240 HEAVY DUTY CLUTCH KIT!!!: eBay Motors (item 290420328740 end time Aug-28-10 17:01:45 PDT)
It might be a little over kill for a stocker but I'll throw it out there.

I have that exact clutch and it works great. don't have much ride time on it yet. but it let's you use, or delete the smaller clutch disk with the wave washer. they give a disk to fit around the washer like stock. and they give you a full disc to delete the wave washer.

good to hear scotj77. If they make a set without the heavy springs it might be just what he needs. Masterhacker, you might wanna look at the sellers other items and see if they make one for a stock engine.

Tusk clutches work great. i have used them in many quads and they work. on ym banshee now, i have 6 HD springs. it aint hard to squeeze for me

Like I said. A good mix is using 3 normal springs, 3 hd springs. It grabs very well and isnt too hard to pull with your hand all day without fatigue.

Just got back from a day trip where I was riding that banshee all day. God that thing is fun. It beats you up, but DAMN its fun.

Ill be putting that Tusk on my Blaster this winter when I have it down for a bunch of other crap too.

One banshee has the mix the other is all hd spring. The all hd is actual the same as the mix one. If you are having trouble with the clutch being hard, get a new cable or lube the old one and a longer lever will help out
