Update on the YFS250r. I sold my trx450 for 3500$. have found a blaster I am planning on picking up this week. It is in excellent shape and only needs a top end. I also found a dinner bike however it’s a kx250 rather than a yz250 (prolly will get a new clutch cover to replace the “Kawasaki”).

The blaster is a 94 for 400$ and the bike is 800$ bike runs great and is a 91 kx250.

I plan on putting a top end on the blaster motor and selling it if anyone knows someone in the Utah area in need of one.

I’m also selling the kx250 chassis when I’m done with it. The kx250 runs and rides great and really is in pretty great shape. Got a steal on both.

First things first is the engine swap… after the swap I’ll worry about the chassis, brakes, etc. just trying to get it moving first.

What are the plans for the coolant reservoir(s)?
ill be welding mounts onto the frame for everything once i have a better idea where it will all go. I have general idea as a yz250 swap has been done before and a kx should be the same process.

I've been reading your posts today & just saw that you're in Utah. I live up in the Logan area. I just bought a Blaster for my son & have been trying to get it running properly. If you are still planning on selling your Blaster engine, or parts of it, I might be interested. Let me know what your plans are. Looking forward to following your build.

Logan? No kidding! I’m in paradise area. I pulled the motor and the case has a big chip in it and the stator cover was homemade with epoxy and a water bottle lid. Not much for the motor. I’m assuming the crank is good and rod, I know it needed a piston but the jug is also fine.

I’m pretty much parting the whole machine out, plastics, a arms, everything.

If you need any parts I’m only like 15 minutes away😂.

Project got put on hold for a bit because my truck broke, it’s back up and running and this week a plan to get some major work put into the blaster.

The problems I'm having with my sons bike are the transmission kicks into neutral in 4th gear and the flywheel is binding the crank. So bottom end parts is what I'd be looking for. Let me know if you think you have anything that would help me out. Thanks.

The internals of the bottom end are good, hell, the case isn’t anything that will stop it from running, it’s on the flywheel side. It ran when I got it but had low compression and wouldn’t run under throttle.

I’m in contact with Ken O’Conner racing because Ik he buys old cranks and such so I’m going to see what he offers me, I’ll let you know though.

Hey, I went out to Porcupine Dam today just to get out of town for awhile. I remembered that you said you live out that way & I thought I'd check how your project was going. What's the latest news? I also wanted to see if you had a few parts you'd be willing to get rid of. I need a new "hood", the plastic part under the headlight that fits up against the gas tank cover & mounts with 3 screws. I dont know how, but mine somehow got lost while my son & I were wrenching on things. Unless you amazingly have a blue one, I'm just planning on having to paint match it. I'm also wanting to put new shocks on it. Mine are shot & it rides like sh*t. Did you end up with any stock ones that are in good shape? Or do you have any suggestions for replacements? The last thing I'm hoping to find used are some rear hubs off a banshee/warrior or any other yamaha that will fit on the Blaster splines. I just want the more standard bolt pattern for when the time comes for new wheels & tires. Anyways, I was just out in your "hood" so I thought I'd see how things were going for you & see if you had any random parts. I hope everything is going well for you. Let me know. Thanks.

Going great, picked up an lt250r motor for it. A 88. I have the hood, it’s black. Honestly id want to sell all the plastics together. Front fenders are sold. Have rears, tank cover, and hood.

My oem front shocks are mint and I have a 400ex shock I could sell you for the rest however it needs rebuilt.
Almost everything is for sale.

Got the rear shock mount tacked into place today, and measured travel. I didn’t do an exact measurement but travel in the rear is estimated at 15-16 inches.

Front arms are also going to be custom made to use an 18.5 inch shocks and I’m thinking close to 12 inches front

Much better than the stock 5.4 that I measured in the front and 6.9 in the rear.

Going to drop the cylinder off at horsepower farms soon to bore it out and get that lt250r going.

Went with a 250 quad because I wanted a counter balanced motor. It’s ported and head shaved, and piped. Should be high 40s hp.

Also I sold the motor. Got. 450$ out of it.

Im glad your project is going well. Out of curiosity, how much would you ask for the front shocks & what color are the springs? I've got to find something so the front end isn't so incredibly stiff. I've heard that Blasters all ride stiff, but these are ridiculous. Proper functioning OEM shocks would have to be an improvement. Anyway, let me know what your asking & remember that I'd be happy to just drive there & pick them up. You wouldn't even have to touch a box or piece of tape, no Post Office trip.. that's gotta be worth a couple dollar bills, right? Haha!

Thanks man,
Curtis
