going to take a look at it tomorrow need to know what to look for

So tomorrow I'm going to take a look at an 05 crf 250x I know I'm going to look at a 4 poke but I need gas mileage and its street legal. I really want to know what you all look for when you go look at a new toy, I know to look at chain and sprockets, tires, brakes, forks, and motor. Is there anything else I should look for or watch out for? THanks.

look at the foot pegs to get an idea of how much it was ridden

Ok will do but I'm sure he said he hasn't rode it much he bought it in 06 and putted around his subdivision and in early 09 we had a class together and he was just making it street legal and then he graduated before he could even ride it on the road and hasn't rode it since he went to college in fall of 09. But I will take your advice and check out the pegs. THANKS keep the ideas coming if I'm spending $2100 I don't want a POS

see how far the chain tensioners are tigtened if there all the way out the chain hasnt been cared for and stretched

oooo never thought of that one good point then if thats like that it will need a new chain and sprockets rite?

yes you will. also check the seems of the cases make sure there are no cracks and its not leaking any fluid. also if you can look at the fluids make sure they arent milky in color. dont smell to burnt and look clean. take it for a quick ride (if they will let you) make sure it has all the gears and the clutch isnt slipping.

check the suspension and make sure it isnt worn out or blown or anything
