Ok so I have been thinking on what I should build next I have one 04 blaster Which I am porting right now. Which is not a crazy all in build it has all new bearings new crank top end tires the normal and sadly I only got the frame powder Which I wish I did all that I could but I am looking to build more blasters because why not there light nimble and cheap to build so am thinking about doing multiple builds
1. yz250 gncc style woods race bike so a average swap and some nice a arms +2 swing just a nice bike all round
2. absolutely insane big bore yz 250 with a +6 or +8 swing so a 60+ ish hp blaster so a full drag/ Hill climb bike
3. new yz250-f motor to build a mx style bike that is very responsive hand handles like a 450 ( I would put a banshee swing on it for the linkage)
4. The absolutely insane blaster ( I will put even more gussets on this frame) but my crazy idea is to strap a banshee or a 500cc 2 smoker in it and build a drag bike it's gonna be hard to do but would be awesome

I will gusset all the frames and put in extra bars needed all builds will be fully power coated all new bearings brakes, tires and all consumables

just let me know what you guys think!

Welcome, real nice Blaster you have there! Forum is kinda dead but it holds about everything you'd need to know about Blasters. Some nice water cooled swaps. I believe the original engine/gearing is perfect for the small frame & suspension with tons of improvement options .. but .. I've had a yz250 Blaster for 15+ yrs. I'm old so another build would have a counterbalance & electric starter. 🙃 Our yz wasn't built for competition, just entertainment. I believe in suspension over hp. Any of your ideas or combination of them would be fun. Hoping if you start the build you follow through to feel the ride.
Good Luck 🍻

Something I've been looking in to is a Loncin/KEWS MT250 engine. Loncin bought the DT230/Lanza development program from Yamaha (an awesome platform that was never imported to the US) and it has a lot of similarities to the Blaster engine, so it should be an easy swap. 2-stroke counter-balanced, water cooled with electric start and a power valve. Not quite as high strung or powerful as a YZ but almost double the torque/HP of a Blaster with very manageable and tractable power. I think it would be butter smooth for a GNCC quad. The engines are only about a grand, but tariffs almost double the cost if you're in the US. High compression heads are readily available if you want to run race fuel and turn things up.
