Glass beading

i picked up a new blaster the other day. i want to polish the head and cylinder. they both are in good condition and dont need to be machined. would i hurt the bores on them if i glass bead them? should i cap the ends and then glass bead them.

another question once i glass bead and polish them up what do i put on them so they dont rust?

Rust? not on aluminum.=))

Some polishes leave a protective film on the aluminum, but you still have to keep it clean and polish frequently or you could just clear coat it. I would stuff the bore full of rags and then cap the ends just to be on the safe side.

the glass beads will pitt the cylnder so make extra sure to tape it off well!! their are several products out their to HELP with the oxidation of polished aluminum, i like metal armor however you will still need the maintenance done to keep it polished. good LUCK the finns are a biotch !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! remember HOURS not minutes
