getting back on the trails!!

As to the bog clean carb paying particular attention to accelerator pump. sh*t, now I don't even remember if it's still running. Long nightX( . Check cam chain tensioner and valve lash. Gonna need manual for that. Check that start button is releasing, starter may have been running the whole time. Starter selinoid might not be cutting out(hanging) Guess you shouldn't have spent money on head light :o
Try using jumper cables from car, putting positive directly to hot wire on starter, Do this for only for few seconds. Charge battery if you can.

yep, try jumping past the relay, like larry said ...positive from battery directly to the main starter wire

as for the wiring, heres how i look at diagrams..............

look at the component suspected, (switch, relay, cdi box, coil, fuse, starter, ect)

then follow each color wire, one at a time, to the other end

now look on the bike at those 2 components and find that one wire, pull and continuity test that one wire, or check for power, if it isnt broken, move to the next color wire,
there is no need to follow each wire thru the harness itself
the diagram shows you were it goes

if you have to, print the diagram and in your own words, label each component on it, and it's location on the bike when you find it
then start ohming out the wires or checking for power, one color at a time
