Some of those cheap testers are inaccurate.who did you order the spring from?Got the engine in the frame today but still waiting to get a clutch boss spring before i can start break in. Bought a harbor freight compression tester today. So idk what i was expecting. Checked compression cold and it only got to 75 psi which i know is low but the engine hasnt started break in. I then tried it on my running 98 cold and it only read 90 psi. Kinda shocked me. Put the 98 all back together and it fired right up. Drove it till operating temp then did a high speed run and hit 63 mph (pocket speedo app) so its running just fine. Wasnt able to check it when i got home and it hot due to the wife wanting to go see friends. May check it tomorrow.
Bike bandit. I called and its 3 weeks out from Yamaha. Some of those cheap testers are inaccurate.who did you order the spring from?
Clutch boss spring? That's in the clutch stack right. After market clutches don't use it. Rocky Mountain has 3 in stock. If that is the piece you are waiting on for $35 i would just buy a new clutch for 50-60 bucks or whatever. And be riding.imoBike bandit. I called and its 3 weeks out from Yamaha.
Great job. Glad your hard work payed off.She lives! Got the clutch boss spring in today. Got the clutch in and cover on. Filled her up with oil and 3 kicks she fired up. Just finished the 1st heat cycle and waiting on her to cool for the 2nd.

Don't forget to retouqe cylinder base and head. Did you do a leakdown test?
How's she running? The breakin is the hardest part for me.im not much of 1/2 throttle kind of person.wot rules. No way to really do a leakdown test?? . keep an eye on plug. . plug chop to confirm main jet after break in. Don't want to burn up new rebuild.Negative on the leak down test. No way to really do it. After heat cycling it i putted around at 3/4 throttle or less. Its hard to not wanna get into it like my other one.
Started up and ran this morning. Killed about a full tank of gas. Got on it a few times and it feels good. My other blaster is stock so this 1 with the air box cover off makes alot more noise. Checked the plug after cool down and it looks pretty good however, could just be me, it feels sluggish down low. Mid to high range it runs great. How's she running? Air screw and needle position play a roll in that area.Started up and ran this morning. Killed about a full tank of gas. Got on it a few times and it feels good. Alright bro, since your the only 1 dialed into this thread, i got a question. Been searching and looking and as far as i can tell i need a bigger main jet. She eats in 1, 2, 3, 4 then flat lines in mid 5th and nothing in 6th. Only thing i can figure is the air lid being off and the reeds is giving it more air. I wanted to do a plug chop but like i said mid 5th she holds steady.Air screw and needle position play a roll in that area.
Don't guess on jetting.you will fry it. Check float height also to make sure it is correct. Is exhaust sealed up tight?no leaks around cylinderAlright bro, since your the only 1 dialed into this thread, i got a question. Sprayed everything with soapy water and let it run for a while and nothing. No bubbles, so shes sealed up. It has a stock 230 main jet in it so ill clean the whole thing and set float high.Don't guess on jetting.you will fry it. Check float height also to make sure it is correct. What mods do you have?Got a 240, 250, and a 260 jet. Took the 230 out and put in the 260. It gets power till about mid 5th and is a dog in 6th. Got to go pick up some plugs to start chopping.
