you should cut the bottom mount down a little and it damn near the same length as stock

here is my 400ex shock with the bottom mount cut down and new hole drilled, next to a stock rear....they are the same length

never occured to me to trim it down, nice job! although i like the slightly raised look so for me i like it as is but thats a great tip for those who dont. +rep 4 u!!
 
thats the same way I did it, I just welded the right thread/size nut on there and screwed it in! fits perfect and has held up fine so far. Its ghetto but there wont be any play
 
we put a few correct size washers in the middle to close up the space then welded the nut to the outside. so im 400ex shock for life lol, if i ever upgrade ill need a works shock for a 400ex. I:I
