I did my first wot plug chop today. It was roughly 60* out. Im thinking kinda rich but thats just fine with me.

I have one question though, is the electrode on the threaded portion normally creamish colored after a chop????? It appears to be almost flaky.

And then i took a snap shot of a new plug after a good 30 minutes of run time. Once again i think its rich. Runs great so i'll leave it alone for now.

did you do this becuase of the how to plug chop by little3mill today? lol And that looks great to me i always like to be rich even if its super rich like i am now

Hard saying. It's tough to tell sometimes based on lighting. I find it's best to use bright natural light to judge. I'm guessing you are a probably 2 mains too big, but running it like that won't hurt it and it will just be somewhat rich. Again that's only for the main jet plug chop. Main jets are easy to choose. Adjusting the needle and air screw is what the real biotch is. I:I

Next i'll do one for 3/4, 1/2 and 1/4 to see how the circuites are running. I alredy adjusted my needle and screw. The screw is at 2 1/4 currently. I suppose things will change when it hits 80-90* out. I adjusted my camera so the pics looked almost identical to the eye. In daylight it was a little lighter though, but i think i'll leave the main alone for now.

What are your mods/gearing and what gear did you do the WOT chop at? I noticed the burn was a little higher up the insulator.

A 3/4 probably won't tell a whole lot. A 1/2 throttle one will do a decent job at telling the needle although they are tougher to do as you have to modulate RPMs and gearing with half throttle. I think I got mine out to 5th or 6th gear and kept it under load(of gearing) at half throttle. 1/4 throttle won't require a chop as the test will read right at the top of the insulator of the plug by the center electrode. It will most likely be more wet and oily as you go up the insulator as it's a less intense burn. Personally, I think just going off feel works best with 1/4 throttle/pilot settings. Just ride around and play with the mixture screw and see what works best. I typically just lean over and take a small screwdriver and play with the mixture screw while i'm putting around to see what gives the best "throttle response" AKA 1/4 throttle.

Other than whats listed im running a 310 main and stock pilot. I did the chop in 6th gear and held it for a good 3-4 seconds i think. Oh and stock gearing. I thought the ring was kinda wide, is there any meaning to that???
