I'm about to buy a 1988 Yamaha blaster 200 for 50 bucks kid says the piston needs to be honed is it worth the buy ? This would be my first blaster and I don't no much about em

I don't think you can go wrong for $50. Post some pictures after you pick it up.

Look at underside of engine to make sure it didn't blow a hole in the case.
Odds are 99.99% that it needs to be bored to next oversize.

Not bad for $50...Looks like it needs a pipe and carb at least . Your gonna need to go through the whole bike to get it to run and be safe

The oil injection is gone. make sure it was properly blocked off.

At least 4-5 hundred...depends on what it needs . Does the motor spin or is it locked up ? Leak test before you pull it apart . Might have bad crank seals
Top end-$ 150-200
Used Pipe- $100-150
Carb and reeds $50-150
Check brakes...wheel bearings...frond end ? Axle bearings ?
The list will probably grow as you go through the bike .
