first time i seen a ported blaster video i was hooked.

i bought 2 blasters a 01 no motor and a 05 not running for $600. cleaned the carb and air filter, did the quick checks and started it up. it started but wouldn't idle or rev. reeds were fine. turned out that the piston skirt was completely broken from the ports down. lol no pieces in the bottom end or exhaust??? kid said he rebuilt and was still breaking it in, when i bought it. Literally!

More on the Bike...

the bike is stock!

What i want:

A nice trail bike with low to mid end grunt, will see mud and water more often than not!

what i bought so far:

Trail ported cylinder fresh bore
Head Mod
Piston Mod
New .20 over Wiseco
Used FMF Fatty Pipe/Silencer
Twin Air Filter
Stock Carb/Sea level Jetting ???

Now i like modding things myself rather than buying parts to throw at it. let me know the tips and tricks you guys do! a good modding page link would be awesome! Can't wait to get it ripping!

Stuff i was thinking about:

Reg boyesen fiber reeds, maybe reg dual stage fiber for $8 more
Some type of airbox mod?
Maybe a new carb, would have to be a cheap upgrade
love how small, simple, and light this bike is!

thanks ahead of time!

you pretty much got all the goods. ltz or 400ex rear shock is mint, banshee axles and aluminum rims helps spacers on ebay for front or flip your rims. get rid of oil injection aswell as the tors system.

take the air box lid off

Then be ready to rejet. As long as you're pushing more air in, might as well go with a good top end exhaust to really let the air rip through, otherwise a low to mid range exhaust is just going to bottle neck it and be pointless. I think Turbine Core II is better for top end than a Power Core II, but I might have those backwards. If you're porting and taking the lid off and a good top end exhaust, might as well put a slob of a carb on, a lot of guys like the Keihine 38 PWK I think it is. Look around, read sigs, you'll get great advice from there.

very true altho the fmf systems are a good setup. just because its a mid range pipe dosnt mean it will be a bottleneck it just means that it will produce all its power through the mid range. there for your lookin at good torque. a top end pipe just produces power in higher rpms which may lack in torque. all in what you perfer pipe shouldnt bottleneck the setup just configure it abit.

i think its worth mentioning, this bike will be a trail bike, minor pit rider, that will see its fair share of mud and water! not looking for top end, more low to mid end grunt!

i had the cyl ported for just that and it was matched to my exhaust and other mods they did.

nerf bars are for racing, they are no good in the woods going over rocks and roots up here in new england, they just get you hung up, i see it all the time, people buy them to look cool not realizing the real purpose of them. foot peg extensions are probably a good idea on this small bike though!

thanks for the responses!

i rocked foot peg extensions before my nurfs and i liked them aswell gives ya alittle leway when shifting body. make sure ends are rounded off

I ride in the woods all the time an in rocky surfaces i like nerf bars protect you feet when sonethings about to hit em an they never got me hung up on rough terain just a thought

Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you have a good plan there. You can drop your front sprocket down to a 12 toothe for better low end.

Yeah, I agree, I guess I was just generalizing a bit too much. I'm running a full FMF with a Turbine Core II. On a slight grade, I seemed to lose some RPMs, I believe I'm running a 13 tooth front sprocket too....heading back down that grade, there was no loss of power, just loss of nerve. I:I But in the mid range, the powerband wants to shoot the bike out from under me, and I go 6'0" 240lbs.

hey ez Powerband.... idk really if i even have powerband i dont have like sudden burst of speed like i expected like my only 2 stroke is my cr 80 when its powerband hits the bike dame near lifts up its got a noticable differnce in power... my reeds would cause lack of powerband right?

Not really on reeds. If you replace them get some duel stage for your use. What kid of pipe? What type/style of porting is this supposed to be? Did you do a leakdown test? Break in properly and re-tourque? Re-jet for new porting? ANYTIME youchange how much air goes in or out you have to change jetting, or at least check it.

Welcome to the forum! ^^^the only difference between power and turbine core is (turbine) is spark arrested. fmf says it makes no power difference but only a NON company spokesman using the ASS DYNO (TM KOR Racing) can give the Real Deal!

Hey sheen uhm I'm gonna have alot of them question answered for u on this other thread of mine read it an let me know what u think I'm about to clean the Carb get jetting size I think I was missive the air screw I'm gonna check that. Check reeds while the Reed cage is off I will check pistion cylender an an rings... its called its me again =( blaster acting really strange. I didn't ask about the powerband we can introduce it over there if u wouldn't mind ... but its a stock blaster 2003 stock pipe stock air lid on no porting or anything

the bike is not done yet, i am still doing research. i went with wildcard racing for the engine port work. i originally was all about flotek with there videos, but was turned off by there customer service. yeah i was asking a lot of questions, that's what i do, i want to know what i am paying for and maybe more sometimes. after never getting them on the phone and about 3 emails later the replys got weak and i moved on. 2nd on the list was wildcard, i called and he answered straight away, no answering machine or emails. suggested what i should do and told me to stay away from other mods i wouldn't need. Just what i wanted. so i said lets do it. Then he replied with "here is the thing" turn around time is 6 weeks. so once again i moved on, not willing to wait. put it on the back burner for now. and then 1 week later he called back with a opening, sent it out that same day. should have it tomorrow or the next day. 3 weeks from that first call. not bad. i've been busy anyway. we'll see how it goes.

he is sending a few jets with the cyl for my needs with the FMF, sea level and stock carb but i will take suggestions from the forum members also!

also am i right to think a dual stage reed would have benefit in a trail bike at lower variable speeds where a regular reed would benefit in a full bore race bike that is WOT all the time anyways???

so how are the vito reeds? most of the bad stories i heard were a few years ago...

what is the cheapest carb upgrade or even better what bikes have these carbs stock? i have a local junkyard for bikes.

i need to find some skids on the cheap!
