well folks, got 2 problems, here we go I:I
just to fill u all in, shes 2001, ported, head done, vforce reeds, exhaust done, nothing major really, on a 240 jet

a. she usually runs sweet as a nut, but havnt had her going for a while, fresh fuel, new plug, clean filter, new piston, gear oil, clean carb, piston settled in, but when down low shes a bit chug chuggy if you get me, when i pin her, shes fine and theres no hestitation, but i noticed shes dumping the odd bit of fuel, not a whole pile, but some, am i overreacting?? the jet is fine and she has always run on it no problem, but im looking towards the air mixture screw, but dont want to fiddle with it yet, any other ideas?

b. the good old drum brakes, not so good :(, the odd time when i pull them, they are making a horrendous crunching noise, and im thinking its the right hand side, took them down, cleaned them, no difference

any help will be grealty appreciated!

way to lean, bump up that jetting first before you worrie about brakes and sh*t or you'll be rebuilding your topend soon...

jet way to lean for them mods, and when my brakes do that i sand the glaze off of them and the inside of the drum too, usually its water in there that causes that to happen, i'm assuming the noise is only when ya hit the brakes, i've also seen guys suggesting that sound is wheel bearings????? make sure your hub nut is tightened properly????

im guessing since he didnt say anything about a banshee, and this is a blaster forum; hes talking about a blaster.
Have you ever done a plug chop? You got all those mods on a stock pipe?
Butyou are WAY to lean. Now if you were WOT and it did that, youd be right. But its not. Fix the jetting and youll be good.

aye powerpipes aren't a big hit over here in northern ireland, we modify both bits of our pipes, mine isn't ported for a powerpipe anyway,

awk08, have you experienced this brake problem? when i say a crunching noise, i mean a loud and face quenching crunch, you'd swear something broke, i'll sand them again, would i need new shoes? never replaced the front bearings, just greased them, have to take a good close look

ive ran the bike on a 250 jet before, but she would not take it, the man who tuned her assures me 240 is ample, and i must say he knows his stuff, ya see its only to about third throttle, then shes fine once you half pin her onwards,

the air mixture screw is turned out 2 turns, just checked it their tonight, what way do i need to go, clocwise or anti clockwise???

cheers guys for the speedy responses!!

sorry blasterkiller, no i have never done a plug chop, do you cut it in half or something??

haha no do not do that, ride it hard for a couple minutes and cut it off right after wot then simply take your plug out and observe the color,
black=rich
white/grey=lean
brownish color=good should look like cardboard or pancake color
