Imagine that i'm the first one here... LOL! what did you use to prep the case. i have my case split right now and i was pretty seriously thinking about getting to work on the polishing.

What are you using to polish the parts? Like a hand held tool, pedistol buffer? How do you get into all the small tight area's? Btw, its looking good, can't wait to see it when its done

well i use a flex shaft tool like most cylinder head porters use but u could get the same results with a dremel tool and various grits of sandpaper rolls key trick is to keep moving dont sit in one spot to long or u will make divits large flat areas i knock down with a red roloc disk on a angle die grinder then i hand sand them i have also used setup wheels on my polishing motors but i think it takes way too long to glue the wheels and them roll them in the different grits of sand then wait for them to dry

i start with a pedestal buffer on the large flat areas as far into the small areas as i can then i use various different felt and cotton buffs mounted on a flex shaft porting tool kinda looks like a dremel with a long flexible shaft but much bigger in size

cool, I've got a dremel that has a flexible shaft adapter. I'll try it on an old throttle assembly and see how it works.
I've been thinking about picking up a buffer/polishing wheel but wasn't real sure if it'd work the way I wanted or not. Have some rep for the tips!!

if your gonna pick up a buffer/ polishing wheel baldor makes a real nice pedestal buffer and so does jet 1 3./4 hpwr is the one to get the 3/4 hpwr one will slow down to much once u try to put any presure against the wheel

Thats great to know, thanks. That would definately not be good if I bought one and the damn thing didn't work like I thought it would!!!!

off topic but 442 did your airbox come with a radiator hose as a reducer for your carb? mine did i'm replacing it with a silicon reducer. back on topic... i have a rotozip with a cable attachment to get in the tight spots and we talked about my b bench grider with the buffer wheels from that place you told me about. i have also used a drill clamped to my workbench w/ buffer bits from northertool that came with a kit.

yes its sorta like radiator for the stock carb reducer but the one for my 36 mm carb is a piece of boost hose for a turbo

f7 sent you that or you bought it. I have an f7 also and they sent me some pos radiator hose as a reducer. I have a 35 mm carb. I just had to order a silicon reducer(made for turbo applications) from siliconintakes.com went ahead and got T-clamps for everything too.

will a dremel type wirewheel work for preping in the really tight areas?

can you enlighten us on grits you use?

don't know that i'll actually do it but its helpful info for everyone involved :D

yeah it was from f7 and no a wire wheel will not work
as far as grits brando i use 120 240 and 320 if im solely using my pedestal buffer ill go from using a roloc to 240 then to the polishing wheel as it has enoough speed to burn those scratches out thats not something u can do with cheap bufing wheels or cheap compound though

ok. i have a drum sander i was just curriouse(sp?) I will have to contact them then(factory7) that thing they sent me was ghetto as hell.
