Engine case blown!!! Help Help Help!

Ok guys havent got a picture of the hole in the bottom of the case but got a picture of what i found after i blew the casing at the bottom of the engine

It is just below the oil drain bolt.
It starts when i cover the hole up with tissue paper and revs, so the crank and piston still seems to be ok.

The casing has a big hole in it, what can i do?
 
I would try and find someone local who can repair it or you could send it to ken oconnor raceing he can fix that for you. And quit running it that way if there is some of the case matirial still in there it will find its way into something and realy reak havic inside your motor.
 
What you mean blew the casing, exploded from inside or punched from outside. In either case don't run until you know there is no more shrapnel inside, I would be splitting cases.
 
well was driving and it just died.

Toke it home checked plug and cleaned the carb. but nothing , Lifted the quad on 2 wheels and there was a hole in the casing by and in line with the drain bolt.

It seem to be a hole blown out of the case not llike it has been cracked by a rock or so but not sure.

Carnt get pics as i have had to leave it at my friends house!
 
Blasters are renowned for dropping piston skirts, they will still run, and run well, even after the piston has dropped its guts into the crankcase. You must make sure there is no more debris in the case, fix I am afraid is a case split, and a weld and a very good cleanout.
 
where did you find them pieces ??? on the ground ???
i'm guessing you broke part of the skirt off the piston and it wedged between the crank and case, blowing out the case
pull the pipe and carb/reeds and rotate the piston up and down looking in to see if both sides of the skirt are intact
 
Yes on the ground awk.
Im not so sure about the skirts and so still learning. sorry awk.

But theres a hole around 3 center meters round just behind the drain bolt.
When i found it i put tissue in the hole and it kicked and it started and reved but i cut it straight back out to not cause any damage.
 
With that size hole and that much metal, the damage has already been done, but take it as gospel, you start it again - $$$$$$$$
 
So what am i talking , Will i be able to weld a plate over it. Or some thing like that.
Or is the opitions down to new cases or new engine?

If it was really bad damage it wouldnt of started when i coverd the hole would it?

if thats the case, thats in the transmission section of the bottom end, and has nothing to do with piston skirts breaking, the front "crank" section is seperated from the tranny,
this could potentially be even worse, sumthin had to let go in the trans ???
good news is i have 2 bottom ends with trannys, i plan to sale, and would be willing to ship to you, if you need them, which looks like this is where this is headed, splitting the cases is the only sure way to know whats up

I thought you could just change the cases but it sounds like thats its not that easy.
And if it comes to needing new cases what prices you talking around as i dont get money for around another month.
 
If you sealed up the hole with tissue and it started then the hole is in the crankcase. You need to split the cases and repair. As stated in previous post a motor will run with a broken skirt but not advisable.

Good news is that i have a local engine builder around 5 mins walk from me so i can ask him to have a look.

If you can keep them till i find out whats rong.
And if i do need the caeses and tranny if you can wait till i can scrape the cash up to buy them that will be brillant.


good news is that when i tryed bumping it in 1st and 2nd the tranny seemed Go in and change gear ok

Had no problem changing gear upto 3rd but didnt try any more gears so is that a good thing?
 
Heres some vids on engine disassembly... The rebuild vids should be up by the time your cases are fixed... Not sure if you know how to split the cases...

not sure what that means, whatever came loose in there, may only disengage under heavier power ????
let the builder have a look and lemme know, one of these bottom ends gets your name on it till i hear back from you, i'm in no hurry to sale them

If you mean you dont no what a bump start is. It is the UK,s way of putting it in gear with the clucth in and pushing the quad and then letting the clutch out.

Any way that will be brillant f you can keep it incase i need it , Thank you.

I was reving hard and had the throtle pinned in every gear if that is any Consultation.

i know "bump start"
i meant i didnt know what going 1 thru 3 gears means, as in......
does that tell if there is damage in there or not ????
gotta split them to see

And what i ment is even with the hole in the case it seems to be ok to put Into gear and change up as a far as 3rd but havent tryed any further.
But like you said i will have to split the cases and report back. And see whats rong and what is needed.
