i have an 01 blaster with cable brakes. my stock brake lever is a little shabby and i would like to replace it but i dont want to put another stock one on. is it possible to somehow override the rear brake cable that runs to the front for the e-brake and still be able to use the foot brake?

I assume the same way since the parking brake is cable operated on them all. I'm not sure though. The plate just goes on the caliper to cover the exposed part of the caliper. Search this, finding something will be easy.

the block off plate is only for hydro's, a shorty brake cable is what your after on an '01
it eliminates the cable to the handle and only goes from the pedal to caliper

the kit listed above is correct

you can get a short brake cable that runs from the brake pedal to the rear caliper and eliminates the cable from the brake lever on the handlebars to the pedal.

great, now search the "diy" section for a thread called " cable brakes and how to make them work" < or sumthin like that, it'll tell you all the internal adjustments to do while you have it apart and get it working better
