ok, i'm gonna ask a newbie question, as it's been so long since i had cable brakes front or rear,
i forget how the E-Brakes actually works. does it work both front and rear ?
or when removing the rear cable for a shorty, or going to rear hydro's, is the stock lever contraption still able to work just the fronts as E-Brakes without the rear cable ???

There's 2 cables that come off the front brake handle. One to the front brake splitter and one to the rear brake peddle. You should be able to remove the rear going cable and still have the working front parking brake. I haven't had cable brakes for a real long time myself so I'm not 100% on this.

Thanks for that. I'm going to check today and hope that's the case. I'm the blastard that wants to keep both after throwing on the hydro kit

Yes you can. Once you put the shorty on the rear you can use the front still. Or if you don't want a parking break for the front you can get a new perch. Back works with the pedal only. I have a rear caliper, just rebuilt in perfect shape.

If I still had the lock, I could use front only Pbrake. If you have Yammie rear hydro, you would need a clutch perch from Warrior/Banshee plus cable.

P brakes are gay as a 4poke

thanx guys,
blastard chimed in as he was who is asking me about keeping some type of E/P-brake with my rear hydros.
so there ya go, you can still have front lock

This kinda depends on the year. 88-89 had the park brake in with the clutch lever. 90-02 had it in with the front brake lever. The ideal way to eliminate the park brake on a 90-02, while still using the front cable brakes, is to use an 88-89 front brake lever and perch. Unfortunately though, I bought the last new one of those on the planet.

I think the generic clutch lever that I tried wasn't long enough to reach past the thumb throttle. It's been a long time since I did it. I don't remember exactly.

I'm sure the discussion will help others who want a full park brake setup, though for me I was mainly interested in the ability to hold the bike still on an incline while my foot can't be on the brake for whatever reason (such as trying to kickstart the SOB)

There is a cable that goes from the front lever perch to the rear brake peddle to work them both. The front E-Brakes will work fine with out the rear.

there calling it lever 1 and lever 2 lol lever 2 being the actual brake lever.. 96 blaster

#4 lever 1 #3 lever 2
