Read up on plug chops and then give it another test.

It seems as if you are in the ballpark, but always start with a bigger jet than you think and work back.

It is far better to start rich!

when just "running down the block and back" in whatever gear, all 3 jet ranges...pilot/needle/main, are all 3 putting color on that plug, not just the main
as a true wide open throttle 5/6th gear plug chop will.
so you could still be lean on the main, but heading back to the garage at 1/4-1/2 throttle will allow those jet ranges to contaminate the color of the plug

you must do a proper plug chop to confirm the main jetting,
it must be done exactly as described below or don't do it at all, and take a chance you don't fry sh*t.....................

Okay my motor is completely stock but the only mods i have done to it is put FMF fatty n power core2 on it after that. I changed my main jet to 260 and i put my needle clip down 1 notch.

Then i took it down the block n back in 3rd or 4th gear when i got back then thats how the plug came out

it does not matter at that point what color the plug is, might as well be green.
you must, i'll repeat....MUST do a proper 6th gear, wide open run, pull clutch, WHILE WIDE OPEN and shut it off, then pull that BRAND NEW PLUG, replace with an old one for the ride back, then cut off the threads and read the smoke ring, not the whole porcelien color.
it explians this all in the link i posted above
why am i repeating myself ?????
read and do, or fry your sh*t, period

"I would be leaving the needle where it is and using a #270 main, then do a plug chop and work from there."

Through 3 threads members have been trying to give a little useful information to save you some light reading.

How about you read as Awk advises, read and understand, do some plug chops and then get back with your results.

Well my jet setting right now is #260 main n needle clip down 1 notch.
The needles fine cause when I let off the throttle it dont speed up.

But im taking my plug to my local dealer tomorrow he said I may have to go up a size to #270 main

The needles fine cause when I let off the throttle it dont speed up.

what jetting manual did you read that in ??????
this is getting better and better by the post !!!!!!

most guys with stock motors and the fmf pipe/silencer do end up with around a 270 main, and needle on the middle clip.
but your city's elevation and air temps have alot to do with what jet you end up with, hence the reason we tell everyone to do a proper plug chop,
why are you failing to understand that, it's not rocket science

your dealer can't tell jacksquat from that plug if it isnt from a wide open throttle, 6th gear plug chop,
if he says he can, he's full of sh*t
and don't forget, your dealer is in the business of selling parts/service, and would love nothing more than to throw a few extra bucks into his kid's x-mas present account, from selling you a new piston/bore job

xNOLOVEx when you take that plug to the dealer to show him, price a new piston because if you don't do a proper plug chop you may need a new one soon.

And while you are in town, give your bank manager a quick visit! :) :) :)

You want something like this after you do what Awk explained above ^^^. After I cutoff the metal threads of my plug here's what it looked like for me.......little blury, but you can see the ring

Im sorry if some of you get mad over nood questions but im new to this im 18 years old n this is my first quad n im starting little by little to upgrade it to the max pretty soon.
So im learning from you guys but tomorrow im getting a #270 main jet n should I try it with that and also put my needle back then try it?
Cuz honestly in that picture I toom my blaster to a long stretch took plug out n put new in started it ran it all the way down last gear for about a few secs turned it off changed plugs n went home I seen my plug looks just like that but the ring dont go all the way around.
Also where I live is in merriville,INDIANA

Make us all happy, read the article on plug chops. buy a handful of plugs and do just what the article says.

Start with a #270 main with the needle in the centre slot.

The reason I got touchy, (which I apologize for) was that you seemed not to be listening to what the forum members were saying and were going off on your own little tangent and doing it your way.

Some of these guys here eat and sleep Blasters, and know what they are talking about.

You ask for advice, advice is offered and then you go to the bloke in the shop and you do what he says.

The members on the forum are here to assist and will continue to do so if you take heed of their input.

Read up on plug chops, do it correctly and you will be one happy person!

I did exactly what they said "plug chop" I cut mine n the ring is like a light brown but also the ring dont go all the way around its like half brown half white.
But today im getting a #270 main n trying it like you said but I have to put my needle back in its orginal spot.
One more thing the needle clips what does that suppose to do?

The only problem with your "plug chop" and what us guys who have done this numerous times is telling you is you have to be in 5th or 6th gear and have the throttle wide open for more than a quick second. I have done chops in 5th and gotten the same result as being in 6th. The important part is doing it the correct way.

We are not here to just tell you anything that comes to mind, this is experience and a hell of a lot of it. Listen and learn, This forum taught me EVERYTHING I know about blasters, and has kept my machine running great.

To answer your question, on needle clips here is a chart to help ya understand what does what. -Slick
