Did you guys read the latest mag featuring a dune battle with the quadzilla and ltr450r?? Such sexy machines :D but guess what? The 20+year old spanked it on a drag race ;)

who cares about a strait line anyways????? 8-|

Becuz it was a dune battle and on the dunes, its all about powahhh :p

Not saying the quadzilla would win in the other categorys, cuz the ltr450r's amazing handling capabilities would have run circles around it on a mx track or xc....

that was such a sh*tty test. i wish DirtWheels would use a good pipe on their damn Suzukis. The LT250R a few months back and the LT500R this month both have garbage Duncan pipes. They need to use a modern Quadracer pipe. If either had an HPR, AAEN, or Dr.Q that would have been a much different test. That LTR450 would have gotten wrecked even more. That'll never happen though because none of those companies are shoving money down DirtWheels' throat for advertisement.

You could tell from reading the article that they were scared of the Zilla.

DirtWheels is just a Duncan and Trinity love fest anyway, its so lame, every article has like a 4-page spread on one or the other.

they also had a 500cc stroker and ported head on the ltr450 and it still got spanked. the zilla was ported with a cool head and a pipe and filter.

Carnz that they were scared of it was pretty obvious lol. Most people from the mag are pretty nervous on a mild piped banshee. sheesh I could tell just from skimming over it in the walmart magazine stand for 10 min :) tjsaname drag racing is simply racing in it's purest form. Because in those 10 seconds or less nothing else matters at all, drag racing represents all that you've put into your bike and everything is decided in a 300 ft sprint to glory and self acomplishment.

^ I disagree about drag racing being the purest form of racing. Drag racing shows who has the deepest pockets.

But i want to build a LTR450 with a REAL engine (aka my Zilla engine), would be SICK

so what you are saying is, drag racing is for the less skilled riders.... all they have to do is put more money into there machine then the other person. :o :o

love how this turned into a what racing is better topic...smh....

Not defending dirthwheels or the current problem of commercializing every f*** thing....but everyone knows that if a company pays you to use there products and advertise them, you will do it...problem is when to stop and take a step back.

In all reality, the only thing the quadzilla has for it, is the engine, that massive 500cc 2-stroke beast...of course it will dominate in dune testing, becuz in the dunes, its all about power...But i bet anything, that if the test would have been taken down to the woods and mx tracks, the quadzilla would have been owned so horrible it would have been considered unmoral and unethical, becuz everyone knows you cant argue against the modern chassis technology....

And i know this for a fact, our raptor 250 handles so freaking good that sometimes i feel like i didnt upgrade anything on my blaster...

Technoligy is great, to bad not much has gone into 2s lately. Let's see, "Zilla in the LTR, CR500 in the Honda, YZ490-wr500-Banshee in the yfz, KX500 in the Kawi. Best of both worlds. Took Yamaha 25 yrs to design a better frame then the Banshee (which wouldn't take much) All they had to do is copy the 250R. Banshee in a YFZ is becoming a very popular hybrid.
Years ago it was a sausage fest for Alba too.

Dirtwheels will never bite the hand that feeds them or overwhelmingly choose a smoker over poker cause it would offend 90% of their reading audience...

This thread inspired me to go out and pick up the rag for some reading.
I want to eat my own words and say yes they did overwhelmingly choose the LT500 over the LTR450 haha

Good read thanks for sharing I:I

mx ftw i cant c how u get a thrill from drag racing :-/ but den again some people are jst different. :L i get a trill out of getting the holeshot, or getting big air over a jump, or taking a corner flat in 6th and having a battle for the win and swaping places. dont get that in drag racing u just go in a straight line !!!

Back on topic- the article.
They liked the zilla pretty much all around over the 450 haha
Not to mention the $3300 they put into the motor of the LTR.
They could have bought the whole Zilla for that.

We are talkin dune riding now. You only cut turn when you want to.
