Cylinder Porting DIY

Well it's Friday again and I have another day off, ( I love working for companies with great benefits! ) I started thinking about all of the porting questions and requests for pics that I've see on this forum. Here's the plan............... I'm going to shoot a DIY on cylinder porting this weekend. I have Foredoom porting equipment but I know most of you don't so I'm going to use a dremel and common bits. This vid will be a “ show all tell all” on how you can port your own cylinder. I'm not going to go into all of the specs I use but I will show you how to get some extra ponies out of your Blaster. These stock cylinders are crap and if you have a steady hand, some confidence, and a dremel you can do this. I've been porting cylinders for over 30 years but I started somewhere. Learn from my mistakes and have at it. The vid should be up by Sunday. On another note............ I want to give a free cylinder port and head mod to a member who can't afford to do it so here's your chance. Send me a PM or e-mail and tell me why you think I should pick you. You need to really explain why you need this. I get requests for sponsorships all of the time so you need to be creative and sell me. Please don't enter if you can afford to do this. Dude, I can't give you enough rep for what you plan to do. About time someone who knows steps up with some real guidance for those who want to do their own work. If it gets screwed up, so what. It will also give peeps a little insight into how much time you put into a cylinder. All the years I've spent searching for info and hackin up cylinders I haven't seen anyone willing to do this. TIA.

i told you guys, thats why i chose "the man in the machinists apron" to do my porting, one phone call and you will know this guy is one of us!!!! not some "make a video" then try to sell you the parts to do it!!! or secretly give away a port job, for free BS. advertising, kens doing this to help us all out, period, no hidden agenda, or snake oil sales here
this is a very knowledgable, stand up, funny as hell, all around good dude, and to do something like this is just an outstanding example of that

oh, and i think i'll ask ken if i can reveiw all the entries for the free porting job, and as we all know, i can smell bullshit a mile away

and a disclaimer may be in order, cause my ass dyno tells me my ken oconnor porting is just plain nasty, and we dont want anyone getting hurt, <<< i already have a +3 swinger ordered to handle my new power

i dont wanna sound like an ass kisser but i called ken for something earlier and it wasnt all about buisness. we talked about other things and i could tell he loves doin this kinda stuff. he just seems like a pure hearted person and diseves alot of respect. who else is fabbing up little parts to make a custom job easy? and also spending time to shoot a vid that explans everything you need to know without forgetting and details.. ken is the man and i hope noone trys talkin sh*t about him or his work.. just sayin..

before i go any further this is not an attempt to bash anyone, o'connor had posted this statement in another thread about spacer plates or not spacer "Long rod with no plate = piston going into specialy machined head." i asked about it but got no answer on that thread maybe i will here, does this guy know that all the rods are the same length? with that being said i dont know if id trust a guy to do porting with him not knowing about rod length of a stroker motor. second dremel porting is a scary thing to think about when its being done by people that are in-experienced with porting.

the thing is, you posted this to start something. you said youre not trying to bash anyone but you really are. youre trying to say that he doesnt know what he is doing and youre trying to convince people not to get their work done by him. its people like you that start sh*t on this forum for no reason that really make me mad. if you dont have anything good to say about it then dont say anything at all. end of story.

and by the way, if someone is in-experienced and tries porting their cylinder and messes up, its their own fault for trying it in the first place. and he does know what hes doing and im sure im not the only one that will tell you that.

and im sorry if my post is out of line. it just makes me mad that oconnor is trying to do something nice and someone is going to sit here and try to bash him
