Cylinder Gasket Seating Face, Lap or Not?

Finally got all the parts together to put my Blaster's engine back together, and just want to make sure I do it all right the first time... Can't find this info anywhere, so thought I'd harness the power of the internet :D

Is it necessary to lap the gasket face for the cylinder gasket (the grey metal one) on the engine side? It's got the joint where the case halves seal together running through it - see attached pic. Seems like it would take a lot of lapping to flatten those faces and when the engine goes back together it might not line up 100% anyway...

Will putting a spot of casebond at the join and using a new OEM gasket seal it off okay, or should I bolt the cases together and lap them?
