cut shock/spring questions

i know there is a thread bout this already... but ya know how stock shocks are tension adjustable? well yall said that if you cut them they may become soft or springy,,, well what if you just put tension all the way up. and how much will it lift it back up. i have another set of shocks so im not worried bout messin up.
 
Why do you want to cut the springs? I must be missing something. Cutting a spring will shorten it (duh, obviously) but will actually increase the spring rate. As in, a given compression distance will cause more deflection per inch of spring wire, because you have now shortened the wire.
