Crankcase seal replacement

I ordered the tusk seal kit to fix the leaking seal on the trans side crank seal. Figured while I'm in it I'll replace the stator side too. The trans side is done and went in nice.

How do I remove the seal on the stator side?

And what kind of grease should I use on the seals? I used Castor 927 to install the trans side but I read I need to grease the inner. I was trying to avoid that in fear the grease would have an effect on the rubber seal.

I use PC-03 seal grease. No complaints so far with it, but I had to order it online and wait a few days for it to arrive. The good thing is once you have it, its there. :)

I don't have the cases split so I'm not sure if that tool will help? I was thinking about threading two drywall screws in it and try to pry it out. I'm trying to do this without spreading cases. But if that seal puller will work without splitting I'll run to harbor freight or seats to get one.

Any other grease I could use that I could find local that might be more common? Trying to get this bike running this weekend.

I looked up PC-03 and saw that it's labeled as seal and oring grease. Silicone grease is also safe for orings and I have some on hand.

Wonder if I can get by with that?

I remove seals by the screw method.

If I have no grease available, I lubricate the lip of the seal with to oil that I will be using in the mix.

After all the seal (after a few rotations) is going to be lubricated with that very same oil when it is running.

I think folks pack oil seals with grease for an added safety net to avoid the spring in some seals popping out when hammered in at assembly.

Ok so I decided before I continue, to do a leakdown test and it's leaking on the trans side still, but not as bad as before.

Those two crank seals are the only two that seperate the crank case to the trans right? I hope it's not the case halfs leaking.

I think it's the metal bushing that slides on the crank, looks like it's leaking between the inner part of the bushing and the crank.

Any ideas what to do?

Try putting a little bit of yamabond on the inside of it, That will help it seal up.

Do I put it on the inner part of the spacer or on the bottom too where it touches the bearing?

I would assume just the inner part that touches the crank.
The force is with you young Skywalker, it's The inner part. Watch Ken's rebuild video's. That's where I picked up on that trick, and do it to all motors I do now:)
