So I split my case today and discovered a crack in my case.. the crack is on the inside where the crank sits, it's toward the front away from the trans and any gear oil... should I replace e my crank case or can i get away with a small crack with a little more liquid gasket in that spot

Ive had a part of my case crack and get pushed over almost 1/4 in. from a shattered piston skirt. I uses loctite epoxy-weld to fill in the missing part back in March and havnt had a problem. The loctite epoxy-weld is rated for like 3400 psi and withinstands temps of over 300 degrees F. Im sure sicivicdude knows more about case repairs then I do so def ask him some questions and see what he thinks. I'm just sharing my experience, my fix, and my results.

The problem with any epoxy or chemical sealant is that in order to get a really good strong seal, you'd need to put some on both sides and connect them through the middle. With a case, you can't put material on the inside....

I have had luck with the "duralamin" or "aluminum brazing" rods on small cracks. It takes a LOT of preparation and patience to get it to work which is why I abandoned it in favor of AC tig welding..... using special filler rod, I can get a repair that is as strong as the original case material.

My phone wont let me upload the photo but it runs under the crank and reaches the other side... everything still lines up... and there no fluid leak in the spot where its at

Fluid isn't the problem actually. A crack in the crankcase will allow unmetered air into the engine causing your engine to run lean. You can't run that engine with an airleak.

Yeah your right... so I can get to both sides of the crack... whats my best option.. i have friend who can weld aluminum but I hears there are some good aluminum products out there

If you have a friend that weld aluminum, the choice is clear as a deep lake!

Take it to him and see what he can do for you. If he's good, he can get that case to look like nothing ever happened.

heres a picture of the crack
