ok im trying to help my buddie he needs to put a set of rings in his cr250 and he doesent want to take it somewhere to get them to put them in so i told him id help him and i was wondering if theres an thing we need to look for i know after we get it put toghter we need to leak test it but any info would be greatly appreciated

you'll need to measure piston to cylinder clearence to see if it's a candidate for just rings, or will need a piston also ? or over bore/piston ?
if just rings, it should also be honed to restore the cross hatching to seat the new rings

and depending on what year cr250........
if it's an older one with cast iron sleeve it may also need bored or honed, you'll need to measure the cylinder itself to determine that against the specs in the manual.
if it's a newer nikaseal cylinder and all looks good, the clearence will tell you..just rings, or piston and rings

here's how to measure a blaster (you'll need to insert the cr250 numbers)
