this happened in the next town over where my son lives, and i know the guy who did it, he was one of my ex brother in-laws freinds
police were called once earlier to a report of an atv on private property, but was gone when the po-po arrived, so this was the second call that evening when the atv returned again
and i'm also sure the cop and witness are making it sound worse than it was, he was prolly just tryin to get back out the way he came onto this "private property" and the cop wanted to play hero and jump in front of, or grab the guy, ending up with his leg getting run over, yeterdays paper said he was in critical condition ?????
8 hours later the guy turned himself in to police < you know what i say to that
he's facing quite a few felony charges including aggrevated assault on a police officer...........................

WINDBER, Pa. -- A Windber Boro police officer is hospitalized and a man in jail after he allegedly ran over the officer's leg with an all-terrain vehicle.
Brett Marsh was arrested after the incident in Somerset County, police said.
The incident happened on private property in Windber. Police said Officer John Rice and witness Richard Hagen were shining flashlights, trying to get Marsh to stop riding the ATV, but they said Marsh gunned the motor and ran the officer down.
Marsh faces charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person. Marsh posted bail on Thursday.
Rice is being treated in Conemaugh Hospital.

what a bunch of crap.... true the guy shouldnt have been tresspassing (did he even know he wasnt wanted there?) but they are going to throw the book at him like hes some sort of cop killing machine...

wouldnt the guy need private property signs up for him to get introuble for tresspassing i know when they used to have a fair right across from my house people would park in our back lot and we had nowhere to park and the cops told us they cant do anything because we dont have private property signs up

Boys, I don't care. My house and one acre are mine and will be defended accordingly. You park you car in my yard and may come out to a chain going through your wheels. Do you really think it is "YOUR" property if there are not sighns posted. I had a cop in my back yard once "looking for stolen property" I promptly told him to leave quickly. It is a bad thing this cop was stupid but this guy is still going to fry because of hise decision not the cops.

Haha hopefully that cop can't walk anymore. Someone give him a Darwin award.

Wow, this forum is HARSH ! I was pretty happy to find it, but now I'm not so sure. I found this thread after browsing a bit. Who wishes that ANYONE is crippled for life ? What kind of person are you ?

Why would anyone suggest that the cop and the witness are making it worse than it really was ? If the cop ended up in critical condition, don't you think it was probably pretty serious ?

Did you know that, although the rider DID turn himself in the next morning, he was bonded out of jail before the cop was even out of surgery ? Did you know that the cop's leg was broken in SEVEN places ? Did you know that the rider intentionally changed is path to drive directly at the cop ? Did you know that he was ACCELERATING when he hit the cop ? Did you know that after he hit the cop's leg head-on, which knocked the cop flat on his back, he also ran over the cop's stomach and chest, and over his shoulder ? Did you know that if the cop hadn't turned his head, the ATV would have run right over his face ? Did you know that the rider has had multiple previous arrests for everything from public intoxication to drug violations to disorderly conduct and many others ? Did you know that the rider had been arrested by this officer before ?

Maybe I have an axe to grind, because, you see, the cop is my brother. He is NOT the "hero" type. He is known as the "candy man" because he buys candy for any kid he sees at the local convenience store when they can't afford it. He also runs an arcade, out of his personal funds, at a loss, just so the kids have some place to hang out instead of getting involved with drugs and alcohol. Yes, like every cop, he can be a complete dick if you deserve it, but he can also be your best friend when you really need him.

I know I'm not going to change anyone's mind, but please, please, please think before you post. How would you feel if this were your brother and you found a spot online where someone wished that he could never walk again ? I know a LOT of ATV owners, having ridden for over 20 years, and I have never met anyone like there seems to be on this thread.

How would you like it if I came and rode around your private property ? Would you call the cops ? I bet you would, unless you are the type, like me, to handle it yourself.

Mike

You seem to have a lot of "facts" about the case, Mike. Hope your brother recovers well.

PS: Welcome to the dirt pile!

1) you really sound like someone that already has an account on here that just wants to anonymously rip on motoman
2) he's banned, he'll never see this
3) DO NOT label this whole forum because of 1 post made by some ass

gooday.

wow this post enrages me my entire family is in law enforcement, i myself am,, you guys need to watch what you say and wish for, you dont see me wishing all trailer trash assembly line workers serious injury or death,.so keep your ignorance to urself

Thanks for the support and kind words.

Yes, I do have a lot of facts about it. After all, he IS my brother.

There is SO MUCH more to it, but I am not at liberty to discuss everything at this time.

Look, I know cops can really be a pain in the ass, especially when you're out riding, having a good time, not hurting anyone, but geez, I would NEVER run ANYONE over, let alone a cop, for cripes' sake !

The guy was 32 years old at the time, out riding after midnight, drunk as a skunk, in the middle of the week. His whole clan has a reputation as being bad news, and they have earned it honestly. But that's beside the point. Why would anyone intentionally run someone over ?

I know that there have to be many, many, many good people on this forum, and that the people who posted harshly about my brother here are hopefully the very small minority and not the majority, but geez, as a brand new member of the forum, I was shocked to find a thread about it to begin with, but when I opened the thread, I got pretty pissed, as I'm sure anyone can understand.

To those who wish ill upon others, beware of karma. What goes around, comes around, and you will get yours. You reap what you sow. I was wondering how this guy's attorney could stand himself, defending trash like this, but then I thought better of it. Actually, I hope the attorney does a kick-ass job. That way, when this ahole is sitting in jail for hopefully many, many years, he won't be able to file an appeal on the grounds of incompetent representation. And remember, the attorney gets paid whether he wins or loses !

I'll be quiet now, and will be reconsidering my membership in this forum.

dude if you think your gonna get any atv forum to like cops then you might as well reconsider any membership you have to any atv forum because more than likely your gonna get some stupid comments about the cops on all the forums. dont let a idiot make you think bad of this forum because if you do then you just screwed yourself out of so much knowledge. while i dont agree in this case that the stuff should have been said and they should have done research before any comment was made but in alot of cases the cops are total assholes and bring the comments on themselves. my example............my bro in law was deputy in missouri (now dallas pd) i go visit em with my wife and she convinces me to go on a "ride along" with em so i go and what do you know these assholes are going out just to mess with the atv riders on a public place to ride just because they can. just purposely trying to find something wrong with em, running their licenses and vin numbers not because they were doing something wrong just because they wanted too. they even get several of em together to just go screw with em. its not like any of em would get out on the road and ride they had their own little place. i ended up getting my wife to come and pick me up because of it and they wonder why people run from em most of the time. sorry it happened to your bro but dont judge a book by its cover....this place is great and you will enjoy it here

if it is such a big deal why didnt he run.O it would have made him look like a pussy.Well when you have someone driving towards you wouldnt you.I for one would. And all so like 3 wheeler rider said, we dont need known of that bullshito0n here.Yea im a new guy so what.Ive been riding for years. You reconsider your membership.Thats all ive got to say.

Thankfully the forum management finally saw motoman (and sheeblast for they were foul mouthed brothers) for what they were and had the good sense to ban them permanently.

Note the message in my siggy voicing my support for the ban....
