Saturday me and my brother went to a local track/trail park and about an hour into riding i lost my clutch. So we get it back to to the truck and i pull the clutch cover to find my 10mm clutch nut hanging by a few threads it had backed off on me.

Luckily i had some blue locktite and wiped the nut off and applied some locktite readjusted the clutch and rode the piss out of it.

My question is was this a freak occurence or is this an early warning sign to future problems.I know what could of happened had it came all the way off.The odd thing is i torqued that to the specs in the manual with a torque wrench. Its a new clutch so i dont think that it would have anything to do with a worn clutch. Also i have red locktite should i pull it apart and redo it in red or is blue plenty?I know the differences in the strengths but how much of a PITA will this nut being done in red but if i need to ever adjust or next time im due for a clutch?

always locktite that nut, i'd have liked to hear you say you used brake cleaner on the threads, i don't know if i'd trust just wiping it ????
blue will be fine if the threads were clean

I rode for the rest of the day beating on it on the pro track with no issues.

I checked it last night and it was all tight still so hopefully i got it.I dont have another clutch cover gasket so ill probably get one and redo it in red with a little brake kleen as you suggested.

I need add nothing else...like everyone else has said, blue will be fine as long as it was applied to a clean surface. 100's of rebuilt lawnmowers and riding mowers later, and not one has had a bolt come out due to blue Loctite failing from vibration...
