So im running along side my 12 year old stepson as he is learing to shift and learn the clutch and i notice the chain is vibrating up and down in a very jittery way. I tighten it up with the adjusters and notice it is still doing this. Upon inspection to my o-ring chain many of the links are stuck together,(will not flex) All the o-rings look good does it just need some extreme lube or do i need to get a new chain.

thanks 4cfed and yb. I will lube it up good and try to work the links free. Im new to working with the chain could i have the rollers screwed up. Does anyone know the correct over and under schematics on the chain and rollers. thanks

new chain means new transmision... whole transmision (dunno the name in english) and its a waste...

just make sure u did adjusted well, not only using the 2 spokets in the back, u need to soft the thing where its holding by the swimgram, pull back and tight, then use the 2 screews at the back...

or maybe send the chain to be some rings off... to short it...

or well... change the whole transmision and quit the o-ring coz its not the best tho...

okay so i dont know who you are charles but if your gonna post you had better know what you are talking about.....o-ring chains are the way to go they help keep grit and gunk out of the rollers and are a much higher quality than non o-ring. why do you think they come from the factory with a o-ring chain?
and when you buy a new chain spend the extra 25 bucks and pick up a set of front and rear sprockets. just because your chain is bad desnt mean you need a new tranny. means you need a new chain and sprockets. unless the sprockets are not worn at all in which case you can reuse them. remember get a can of chain wax or chain lube, not wd40 or similar penetrating oils.

well said brotha.... liquid wrench makes a good chain lube thats available at most parts stores and hardware stores, iv used it with good luck

Before you start flaming other members 8-|.....I was pretty sure the Blasters came from the factory with non o-ring chains (Daido?) and, it's really a matter of opinion and personal choice... If you want to put a chain on there and not have to worry about it for 3 years and don't care about parasitic power loss, buy an o-ring chain. If you like the idea of a new chain every year and want to eke every bit of performance out of the quad, buy a standard chain. IMO I like the standard chain, because you can replace it 3 times for about the same cost as an O-ring chain anyway, and a new chain always looks good I:I.

Also, if you're using an o-ring chain you want a light oil like WD40, because all you want to lube is the outside, the o-rings keep the rest of the grease sealed in the rollers. Don't use too much though or you might wash it out or dilute it. A good scrubbing and just wipe down with a cloth dampened with motor oil is good for o-ring chains too. The heavier chain lube and wax is for standard chain and is not needed for o-ring chains, kind of defeats the purpose really. Those lubes are stickier, and tend to attract dust and dirt, you really don't want that, but it's a needed evil for standard chains to lube the rollers.

Guys, eaze up on the dude. Jeez! He said his english is not so good right of the bat... the chain and sprockets transmit the power from the engine assy to the rear axle. He was probably talking about the sprockets all along..... you know, they transmit power.... B)

Although, with that said, you can use the same sprockets whether you have an o-ring chain or not. Same sprockets. No need to replace the sprockets unless they are worn.

maybe, but if that was the case he was talking about the sprockets dont you think he would know whats its called in english since i labeled the diagram i drew and he quoted? but either wayyyy this isnt a debate..lol..yea pretty much any 520 (i belive) chain O or Non O will work.

^^^^^^ Dang nice diagram it was too!

Wouldn't it be a biotch if you had to change the transmission with every chain replacement? I'd switch to an o-ring chain for sure. I'd also take it off, bathe it, and sleep with it every night too!
