me and some friends went riding this weekend and my friends blaster was running like crap. first off, the clutch kept getting looser and looser until it wouldnt disengage until, the lever was almost all the way pulled. second, it would refuse to go into neutral, and 1st, and sometimes second. that might be because of the clutch im not sure. we just split the cases and replaced the two cases with genuine yamaha ones. could we have forgot about something in the cases? the forks are set right and everything and it ran fine a few days ago. could all these problems be from the clutch?

As to the clutch I bet your adjuster on the pressure plate backed out. Are you saying you got two brand new case halves?

As for running like crap, could you describe it better? Was it diahrrea, constipated, rabbit pebbles, or have corn in it? :-/ :D

did you put the ball bearing in between the push rods? maybe your lock nut worked loose.

haha rabbit pebbles...im afraid i dont know how to fix a blaster with that...

after the clutch started loosening it would not go into gear or neutral and when it did go into gear it would instantly die. and yes its brand new cases

if it died instantly when it went into gear, you were probably killing it because the clutch was still engaged. when i assembled my motor i had the same problem. its probably the nut that is on the push rod and sits in the pressure plate. it probably backed off like mine did. i know, i dont recommend doing it because it will probably be a pain in the ass later, but i put removeable loc-tite on mine. yeah, i was young and dumb when i assembled it, but it still works fine. take the clutch cover off and see if that nut is loose in there

Putting a drop of blue locite is a great idea actually, could prevent future headaches.

As to the running issue, I would suggest a leak down test. Did it start running bad all of a sudden or was it gradual? Have you gone thru all the usual checks that are always posted?

it gradually got worse as the clutch loosened. i will be shocked if that nut is loose because we covered it in loctite. i dont get it. mine i just tightened and have never has a problem with it. i did a leakdown after i built his motor and it held fine. and i have done most of the checks posted. the only thing i can think of is my friend didnt want to spend extra money so he didnt hone the clyinder or get new rings it was put back the way it was when he got it

Have you adjusted it at the lever? As for running, whats plug look like? Try a new plug?Air and fuel system clean? Check that the fuel vent hose is clear. Leastwise around here we have little mud dauber wasps that love to plug little holes and lay eggs. I recently had one plug my trans vent and I literally blew the countershaft seal out of the case, luckily it wasn't damaged.

More info on how it's running would help.
