Brute's rebuild(s)

actually no, went a little too fast over a double and instead of down siding the back side of the first jump i ended up in the dip and bottomed out. I felt my knee pop, and after going past the double there is a second jump that i hit a little bit and when i landed that i felt it pop again and pulled off the track (there was a gate that lead off the track right after that second jump). I think i might have dislocated it from the double, then popped it back in from the next jump, lol. My knee supposedly has no serious damage, so a little R&R and i should be good to go again in a couple weeks.

that sucks man. just need a little more practice from the sound of it. and maybe some long travel suspension

practice, always but i wasnt expecting that to happen since my other knee didnt even notice it. And that what i am gonna do while im sitting around now, lol. Gotta draw up the swinger and finish tweaking the arms in CADD.

and thanks man

A little test fit using my 125's rear shock (18.75" from eye to eye)

I am probably going to need to lower the shock mounts a bit, but we'll see :P

Just make sure when you mount them you don't move them foreward or backward, you want the ball joints to be in the same postion that there were with the blaster a-arms. I'm sure phargle can tell you more and point you in the right direction.

moving the arms fore or aft will change the caster, and depending on what i want to do with the machine will determine my caster (gonna run it the same as the YFZ 450's so i just need to make the front arm back as far as they are stock in relation to the lower arms).

on another note, i got a touch of progress today :D Pics coming up!

Pics!

the arms will droop more than that, at the droop that i want, i will need a shock that is 18" from eye to eye if i leave the upper shock mount as it is. I need to get some dust caps on the arms and tighten them down to get the mounts to sit like they need to, then i will clamp them down and tack them in to place for the time being.

things only get more difficult with this swap. The arms have a funky offset for the mounts and one of the arms is tweaked, so instead of trying to figure out how they go im just gonna cut off one of the mounts and make it go straight across from the other. Note: the point of this build was not to use YFZ450 arms, it was to use the geometry from the front (which it will be more or less).

holy crap its been a while! My knee injury kinda killed things for a while (torn acl and meniscus) there then college started up. I will start workin my way back to this thing tho! First i need to prep my sled for the coming winter tho, i will probably post what im doing to it in this thread then i will start turning the wrenches again. :P

Was doing a little brainstorming today:

I measured out 10.75" of travel with that shock, so its looking about where i want the travel to be. now i just gotta track down some shocks that will work. Pretty soon i will have some spindles in my hands so i can continue to tweak my setup until i get it to where i want it.

About time for an update! lol. Great to see your still working on it!

been out of the game for a while since i got hurt (didnt do anything with riding for a couple months with my quads). Since winter is coming i decided it would be a good time to get a blaster done up for the up and coming racing season. The YFZ Blaster is gonna be my race quad for this season :P As the saying goes, im down but not out!

Got a temp fix to the arms until i can find some steel tubing of the same size (aluminum tubing is in there now) just so i can see how they swivel in the mounts. So far so good!
