Brake Pad RANT!!!!

Ok so i just got my new rear brake pads in the mail today, i begin to read the package and read,(100% Asbestos Free). For those of you who don't know what Asbestos is, The inhalation of asbestos fibers can cause serious illnesses, including malignant lung cancer, mesothelioma (a formerly rare cancer strongly associated with exposure to amphibole asbestos), and asbestosis (a type of pneumoconiosis). Long exposure to high concentrations of asbestos fibers is more likely to cause health problems. So anyway did you guys know that most brake pads are made with ASBESTOS WTF!!!

yup, most all brake pads have been asbestos free for quite a while now. I wouldn't worry about it too much unless you're working on something real old....

do you even know what an amphibole is?? Asbestosis - the lung disease, is mainly associated with asbestos miners. a little brake dust is nothing to worry about, when you start angle grinding asbestos sheets etc, you should wear a mask. the actinolite and hornblende fibrous strands (amphiboles) are sharp, needle shaped accretions of crystals and get stuck in your lung tissue and never come out!

The more you breathe in, the more accumulates and then reduces your oxygen absorption capabilities
